I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately… and there’s a reason.

After my divorce, I did something slightly unhinged…I bought a fire-damaged house at auction 🔥🏚️

Not because I knew what I was doing…But because I needed a fresh start.

What started as “how hard can it be?”quickly turned into “oh my god, what have I done…” 😅

But I’m doing it anyway.

I’m rebuilding the house…and, if I’m honest, myself at the same time.

Another task underway on the one woman one year fire damaged renovation project.

Slowly replacing all of the original fixtures in the house.
Removal and reconfiguration of the plumbing for my wall hung sink and second fix plumbing of the last remaining radiator replacement.

Another day, another task. I have been aware that the stop tap was not shutting off properly and definitely would need replacing before I installed the base cupboards and flooring in the kitchen.
Not without a bit of action though. Unfortunately I had turned the isolator the wrong way in the street (school boy error , not checked the water had shut off). 🙈😏
My only regret is that I did not record the episode as it would have been comedy gold.
6 bar of pressure when you are on your own would have been quite the scene. Needless to say after battling with water in the kitchen, I resigned myself to leaving it pumping out and go and switch off the water in the street.
Witnessed only by my neighbour Grant as he empties his bin.
It looked like I had taken myself for a swim, fully clothed, in the canal. .

If it only ever went right no one would learn anything.
I did laugh. I think you would have too. 🤣🤣

Never been so excited to do my own washing.
Maiden voyage.
Finally working on the kitchen second fix, reconfiguring the original layout to incorporate my Facebook marketplace second hand kitchen.
I have had to be patient and not get frustrated that I only have one pair of hands, only so many hours in the day and when renovating a whole house to live in EVERYTHING is a priority 😵‍💫🙈.

When you are renovating a whole property you have to celebrate every step towards the finish. Whether that is fitting yourself a new kitchen window or simply exchanging a smoke dirty plug socket for a clean one. (Filling and touching up is clearly another task 😉). Every step is a step closer, whether it’s a baby step or an Olympic long jump attempt. 😝
With International Women’s Day on Friday it is time to reflect on your accomplishments.
