Gauber Bunk Barn is situated in the heart of Yorkshire's beautiful Three Peaks country. Step straight out onto the Yorkshire Three Peaks route between Pen Y Ghent and Whernside. Why not take a break from convention and the crowds by starting the hike at Ribblehead?! We are also perfectly located for walkers needing an overnight stay on the Dales Way and Dales High Way routes. Gauber Bunk Barn-
-Sleeps up to 12/13 people in 3 comfortable bunkrooms. We have 1 family room(en suite) comprising of a double bed, bunk and room for a mattress on the floor(reduced charge for 5th person in family room).
-2 further rooms each sleep 4 people.
-We are a member of Independent Hostels UK.
-Suitable for small groups and families. The barn can be booked for sole occupancy(based on 12 people,reduced charge for additional people).
-Main bathroom is downstairs with a shower over the bath. A further toilet is situated upstairs.
-Spacious living room with cosy wood burner(starter pack of wood and kindling provided ,additional wood and kindling is available for purchase) and Smart tv.
- Free WiFi.
-Large kitchen/diner with farmhouse table. The self catering kitchen is well equipped with cooker,hob,kettle,toaster,dishwasher,washing machine/tumble dryer and fridge/freezer
-Garden to the rear has a picnic bench perfect for enjoying the stunning views of Ribblesdale.
-Dogs by arrangement please.
-Parking spaces available.
-Pub and train station within walking distance.
-10 min drive from Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
- The basic price includes fitted sheet,pillow and pillow case(please bring sleeping bag and towel). Duvet,cover and towel available for hire, £7 per person
A simple self service breakfast is available by arrangement.

Gaping Gill, 19/8/26, what an experience!
I’ve been wanting to do this for years and it didn’t disappoint!
Twice a year (usually 1 week in May and 1 week in August) tickets are available for members of the public to be winched into the incredible Gaping Gill.
The adventure starts with a walk from Clapham along Ingleborough Nature Trail to Trow Gill and then up to Gaping Gill.
The winch meet runs like clockwork with timed tickets and friendly volunteers running the whole operation.
My daughter and I were very fortunate to visit when both waterfalls were in full flow. The water drops 100 metres from Fell Beck into Gaping Gill cavern creating the highest, unbroken underground waterfall in Britain!
The cavern itself is large enough to fit York Minster inside!
It’s an incredibly exhilarating experience and one I will never forget!💦

A little tribute to Ribblehead Station as this week marks 40 years since the stations along the beautiful Settle-Carlisle line reopened following following their closure in 1970.
Here are a few photos that I’ve taken of Ribblehead Station over the 10 years we’ve been at Gauber Bunk Barn & Den
(we are less than a mile away from the station).

We would like to apologise that if over recent weeks you have been unable to get you coffee, parkin or beer fix in Horton before jumping on a train.

We find ourselves desperately short of volunteers to be able to open both Horton and Ribblehead station cafes at the same time. Sadly on these occasions when there is not enough staff Horton has to close.

We are actively recruiting more volunteers (could you help out - please get in touch if you can) and taking steps to try and keep Horton open more.

Next week sees the formal anniversary of all the stations besides Appleby and Settle re-opening in 1986 as part of the campaign to save the line.

Events are being held at Garsdale and Ribblehead to mark this significant milestone and we hope you can come along and support us.

There is something on everyday between the 13th and 19th July at Ribblehead including a crime writing masterclass, a folk music evening and an Afternoon Tea so please do visit our website to explore, find out more and get yourselves booked on. Many of the events are completely free to attend but booking is required due to limited numbers.

If you are not booked on an event you are of course still welcome to pop along and visit the Visitor Centre and Tearoom but please be aware some areas may be closed off to the public during the events.

A great networking event for local businesses!

First up events wise for our launch week, we are looking to connect with all the local businesses in our area who are linked to tourism and visitors.

We see Ribblehead Station Tearoom and Visitor Centre as both a destination - with lots of free and fun family activities running regularly that you could be signposting your visitors to - and as a gateway into our area - so we could also be signposting our visitors to you and your offering ..if we know about you

So come along to our Tourism Together event, bring your literature, meet the team, join a super free guided walk and talk to see what we offer to visitors and let's see how we can work together in the future

We have now finalised our launch week programme and we are very proud of the events we will be bringing to you all and the communities and teams we will be working with.
