We are proud to welcome returning guests year after year at Puddle Duck Cottages, where familiar faces make our little haven feel even more special.
Over the last ten years, Jo has visited Puddle Duck Cottage 17 times. That alone tells a story. In a world full of new places to discover, she keeps choosing the same cottage, year after year.
Jo is mainly a solo traveller, although she would probably argue that she is never really travelling alone. Over the years, Puddle Duck has welcomed her much-loved dogs too. First there was Alfie, her loyal companion who sadly passed away in 2019, and now Megan, Rosie and Billy, who seem to know exactly where they are the moment the car pulls up outside. Watching generations of Jo’s dogs enjoy the cottage, the garden and the local walks has been a special part of her story here.
What makes Jo’s connection with Puddle Duck different is that she hasn’t just returned to the cottage; she has returned to the life that comes with it. She has her favourite places to walk the dogs, favourite spots to sit with a coffee and favourite local businesses she looks forward to visiting every time she comes back. Over the years, familiar faces have become part of the experience, and Ironbridge feels less like somewhere she visits and more like somewhere she belongs.
Puddle Duck has also quietly become the setting for some important moments in Jo’s life. She brought friends and family here to celebrate her 50th birthday. Different generations of her family have stayed here too, making memories together, sharing meals, exploring the local area and enjoying time that is increasingly hard to find in busy everyday lives.
The thing Jo often says about Puddle Duck is that arriving feels somehow like coming home. The cottage is familiar, comfortable and welcoming. There is no need to learn a new place or work out where everything is. She is confident everything she needs will be here and she can simply settle in, put the kettle on, watch the dogs explore the secure garden and feel at home.
That is why she keeps returning.
After 17 visits and many more planned, Puddle Duck Cottage is no longer just somewhere Jo goes on holiday. It is where she celebrated turning 50, where Alfie, Megan, Rosie and Billy have all made happy memories, where family traditions have grown and where some of life’s most treasured moments have unfolded. It has become part of her story, and she has become part of ours.
