The Family Court is changing, and the changes are coming to Cumbria and Lancashire sooner than you might think.

The new Child Focused Court, formerly known as the Pathfinder Pilot, is being rolled out to eight new court areas within the 2026 to 2027 financial year. At its core is a new Child Impact Report prepared by Cafcass right at the start of proceedings, so that the child's circumstances and welfare shape the process from day one rather than emerging gradually over multiple hearings.

Our Family Department has had early sight of these reforms and is well placed to advise anyone facing child arrangements proceedings on what to expect under the new approach.

She did it! 🏅

We are so proud of Sally Davies, Legal Assistant here at Milne Moser, who completed the AJ Bell Great Manchester Half Marathon last weekend in aid of St John's Hospice in Lancaster.

Sally crossed the finish line in a fantastic 2 hours 39 minutes and 53 seconds, earning every single bite of that well deserved post race burger.

St John's Hospice provides outstanding palliative and end of life care to people across Lancaster, South Lakeland and surrounding areas, and the charity relies on the generosity of fundraisers like Sally to keep those vital services running.

We are thrilled to announce that Milne Moser has been shortlisted for the Workplace Wellbeing Award at the Modern Law Private Client Awards 2026! 🏆

The award recognises firms that have made a real, lasting commitment to the wellbeing of their team. For us, that looks like a dedicated Wellbeing Room offering talking therapy and massage sessions, Wellbeing Days covering mental health, menopause and stress management, visits from a sports nutritionist and personal trainers, and leadership training so our managers can spot and respond to stress or burnout early.

We are a close team, and that means we can genuinely respond when someone tells us something would make a difference. The culture we have built together is something we are incredibly proud of.
