We recently inspected a traditional stone-built property in Ilkley, believed to date from around 1900.

Older properties like this often have plenty of character, but they also require careful inspection and ongoing maintenance. Key areas we considered included:

✅ Chimney stack and chimney breast damp staining
✅ Solid stone walls and cement-based pointing
✅ Rainwater goods and drainage arrangements
✅ Replacement windows, doors and energy efficiency

✅ Rear access rights, boundaries and legal matters

The property was generally in reasonable condition for its age and type, but as with many traditional homes, future maintenance and proper legal checks are essential before purchase.
