🔥 Gas Safety Week 2026: a tragic reminder of why gas safety matters

The recent fatal gas explosion in Newton Longville highlights the devastating consequences that gas-related incidents can have.

Gas appliances should always be worked on by the appropriate Gas Safe registered engineer and serviced regularly. The explosion also left a secondary hazard: asbestos was discovered within debris around the site.

It raises an important question for those managing buildings containing ACMs: are your asbestos management arrangements prepared for unexpected events such as fire, explosion or structural collapse?

At the end of last week, the HSE announced a statutory review of the current asbestos regulations, requesting views and information in two separate surveys:
