In most cases, woodworm is caught early enough and treatment with insecticide is sufficient to kill off any active infestation and protect against future problems. However, more severe cases such as this one, require complete replacement of the affected timber sections.

This is an attempt to deal with water ingress through an earth retaining wall. Torn up fertiliser bags, polythene and a block wall is a lot of work for it NOT to work. This could have been dealt with correctly (and probably cheaper) with the correct specification. Like they say "If you think a professional is expensive, wait until you use an amateur".

Dampness within the sub-floor void had resulted in extensive wet rot decay to floor timbers to this bungalow in Lenzie.

We specified sealing of the solum and increase ventilation prior to floor timber replacement. Works were undertaken by McNally Contracts and covered by a long-term guarantee.

We were recently contacted by a contractor on a tight schedule to refurbish a nursing home kitchen and who requested urgent treatment for woodworm infestation discovered when they lifted floorboards.
We attended the same day and noted the infestation was, in fact, wood boring weevil which was only affecting the damp and slightly decayed joist adjacent to the external door.
This insect will not infest dry timber so no specialist chemical treatment is necessary. We advised the contractors joiner on site to replace the affected joist section and this allowed their work to progress on site without further delay.
