This is a much over due appreciation post for Water & Wines 🧩🩵✨

Water and Wines are the co-creation of a friend of mine, Mathilde. We worked together in my very first London PR agency back in 2009 and hit it off immediately. She then moved to Sweden and ended up partnering with a sommelier to create these beautiful puzzles.

Mathilde has kindly been sending me puzzles ever since, so the Seaflowers games cupboard is stocked with quite the collection!

I’ve been waiting for these new photos from Sue Porter Photography to share how wonderful they are.

Then the other day I came across two of the puzzles laid out in the dining room - one complete and another in process. I couldn’t resist taking a few snaps.

Imagine my delight when guest Rebecca commented in her review last week: “Other guests were using the property at the same time as us. Everyone was lovely - we even pitched in and did a couple of massive jigsaws together. How wholesome is that?”

This is exactly what a room-only stay at Seaflowers is all about! You’ve got plenty of space to yourself, but if you’re after company then might find yourself sharing a bottle of wine or pot of tea with a fellow guest over a puzzle.

Meet Laura. ✨

There are many people I rely on to run Seaflowers smoothly, but it is no exaggeration to say that Laura sits at the top of that list.

Laura is responsible for keeping Seaflowers spotless. Her team have been described as “an army on a military operation” by more than one observer witnessing them descend on changeover days. She cracks a firm whip - and I admire it!

Anyone who’s worked with me in any shape or form will know I have exacting standards. I expect things to be perfect, every time. So I am endlessly grateful to Laura for putting up with my spot checks and demands. She also ensures every single clean is fitted in - no matter how short notice.

Laura and her team have just completed their third summer working with me, but long before that she also supported my parents in their B&B days. So she knows every corner of Seaflowers as well as I do.

Thank you Laura. I appreciate your quick comms, no-nonsense can-do approach and beady eye. And I certainty couldn’t do this without you!

So forget about unpacking your woollen knits and lighting those candles just yet. There’s still beach days like this to enjoy. ☀️🌊

Seaflowers has rooms available midweek over the next couple of weeks. The beaches are quieter, the water is crystal clear and the sun is still shining. Book a late summer coastal break and come see for yourselves…

Paul and his wife came for a recce last September just the two of them. They returned this August, booking the house and Annex exclusively for their family’s summer holiday.

They brought their children, grandchildren, Paul’s mother and two boats. Together they certainly made the most of the water and the weather!

Here’s what Paul had to say in his review:

“A perfectly equipped home in a relaxing setting. Suzy has thought of every detail at this spectacular B&B. Everything has been provided with care and thought on how to make your stay truly special. The view is incredible and provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy a morning coffee or a sundowner. It was a wonderfully relaxing holiday where the family got to enjoy games in the garden and loved getting on the paddle boards.“

I am constantly making upgrades and tweaks around Seaflowers to provide the best possible guest experience.

I do a lot by myself but I often rope someone more talented in to help. I am extremely fortunate that my mum Pat Greenwood is a dab hand with a sewing machine!

She recently reupholstered the dressing table stools in The Seal, The Heron and The Crab bedrooms - and look what a fabulous job she did.

Thank you mum. I don’t say it enough but I really appreciate all the small (and big) things you do to help keep me afloat. 🩵

The Annex at Seaflowers is available for medium-term lets this winter while I am away travelling.
