- a pleasant morning repurposing a pile of mis-matched bricks into this raised bed walkway. It was a bit like a giant, heavy, wet jigsaw, knitting the new/old bricks in with the existing ones. Still, when it dries and has welly boot marks on it the cottage charm will positively radiate.

# - back at the community hall earlier to repair some splintered cladding that I noticed earlier in the week. The trustees sourced some pine tinted two part filler, which worked a treat apart from the miss-match in colour. A bit of research suggested staining the affected area a shade darker than the final outcome desired. A happy bit of time with a pot of antique pine wood stain following the grain pattern has certainly helped to disguise the repair somewhat.

- another day, another ladder. This time it's a remedial fix for an ageing flat roof. When the rain blows a certain way this roof leaks. After removing 12 sacks of stones to get to the roof itself it became apparent that some of the old bitumen joints had cracked over the years. I used a fibreglass based roof repair paint to solve the problem. It's due to rain tonight so we shall see how well this holds up. The repairs will get another coat tomorrow in any event just to be sure.

- more small jobs in the rain this afternoon. I have been tasked with installing and renovating a memorial bench. Sadly the existing concrete plinth is too small for the incoming relocation. Time to source a substantial slab, level the earth and cement it ready to be the anchor for one end of the bench. Incase you are wondering why the new slab is layed at the diagonal, it's to save public money. I only need a single slab when laid this way. Back tomorrow in the better weather to continue this job.

- small jobs in the rain this morning. This tap had been dripping for an age. It was trickier to swap out than expected as there was a corroded holding screw tucked away underneath that needed to be drilled out before the tap could be removed. Not seen that before. It was all plain sailing once this was done. A wardrobe covered the stop c**k so we also took the opportunity to give that area a jolly good clean before everything went back.
