Plea to bike riders as we try to save Kenilworth Common

Glow worms are extremely rare in Warwickshire, and Kenilworth Common is one of a small number of places with a glow-worm population.

Sadly, the nature reserve is being routinely damaged by bike riders.

What was once an area filled with wildlife is now a barren, dusty area of bare earth with no ground vegetation.

Bike tracks have been built, trees have been removed to create jumps, and fences and newly planted trees have been ripped out. These acts of vandalism have been carried out without a care for the wildlife and at a great cost to the wildlife charity and Council.

If anyone sees any bike riders or other anti-social behaviour inside the nature reserve, please call the police on 101 or report online at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/dobemin

Protecting the area means the land can once again become a stronghold for nature and in particular, for the glow worms who are desperately trying to survive there.

The 1st July bat survey at the Bath Place viaduct was fascinating and highly instructive.

Superbly guided by our local experts we have started to develop a surveying plan for each month until the bats hibernate for the winter.

Positive news as we are starting work on the Faith Garden at Bath Place on 1 July.

We have never done a GoFundMe for the project as we benefit from amazing local talent and an enthusiastic project team. (come and join in).
