It’s time to announce the team taking over the space in 31 The Calls! We already know & love them, because they’ve moved across from 46 The Calls after a busy couple of years growing the team. It’s !

Hexa deliver structural, civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering consultancy as well as highways and transport planning and they have been YDG tenants since early 2023, and they’ve decided it’s time for them to upsize. We’re so pleased to see them growing and thriving; we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes with them, plotting and planning how their office space can reflect their growth. We love to work together with our evolving tenants 😊

The 5th Annual is coming this October!

Our own Paul Ellison has a rich history of involvement with over the past 9 years; his current post is as Co-Vice Chair. He’ll be attending various talks at LIFI25, one of them being a panel discussion: ‘Who picks up the tab for a hospitable city.’

Paul is looking forward to what promises to be a thought-provoking conversation, and says, ‘A welcoming city relies on a strong hospitality sector because it plays a vital role in shaping the first impressions and lasting experiences of visitors, new residents, and investors... I’ll be interested in what the panel have to say about this!’

We haven’t even had time to advertise availability in our characterful 31 The Calls building before the space was claimed! A deal has been struck, and we can’t wait for it to be occupied soon. We’re nearly ready to share who the new tenants will be, but in the meantime, we’re hard at work partnering with them to fit out the space to make sure it feels like home straight away on move in day. 🪜🔨

has set sail for another year! Thanks to our twelve business sponsors and more than 400 donations from the public, WasteShark will continue its mission of cleaning up Leeds waterfront for another year AND it will be on the water an extra day each week. That means nearly 4,500 litres of rubbish should be cleaned up from the river!
Thanks to Paul Ellison for chairing this initiative with Leeds Waterfront Group to clean up our community.

has organised the ‘Making Things Happen’ photography exhibition, showcasing the work of Leeds Development Corporation from 1988 through 1995. We were so pleased to see a few projects very close to our heart featured in some of the 140 original photographs, from the Millennium Bridge installation to the Malt House Refurbishment. And good news, there is still time to check it out at Butcher’s Row in until Saturday 28th June!

🐾 Bring Your Dog to Work Day 2025 is proving to be a pawsitively productive one! 🐶💼
From morning meetings to lunch break fetch, our furry friends have been hard at work (and on their best behaviour!).
Morale on the best side of Leeds is at 100% today. 🐕✨

Did you know that all companies in England with 10 or more full-time employees are now legally required to separate their food waste as part of ‘simpler recycling?’ We thought it was the perfect time for a appreciation post! We have started working with P2P, a small Leeds-based business, earlier this year to collect our food waste and we think they deserve some recognition around here. 🌱

P2P repurpose food waste and compost it to grow more food – hello sustainability! They come ‘round twice weekly to collect the good stuff that then gets turned into healthy compost (which is used by farms right here in Leeds!).

As if that’s not enough to love, P2P also supports people with learning difficulties, providing part-time employment. Well done to Mark and the team, it’s excellent to use a service we can be so proud of.

Today is 2025, and to celebrate they have been getting some fresh air during their meetings and team lunches.

Outdoor Office Day is an idea developed by in the Netherlands, with the goal of making nature, walking and exercise a part of the working day. We love to keep an eye out for great ideas that we can bring to our local community, and we are proud to pioneer this initiative in Leeds.

In the YDG community, our spaces are uniquely creative, and the blend of indoor and outdoor space is an important part of promoting creative thinking and collaboration. Take a few minutes to get outside today with a walking meeting or a brainstorm on the balcony, and share how you celebrated using the hashtag on socials!

Do you find yourself admiring our Instagram account on the regular, but wondering, ‘what in the world does YDG actually do?’ Or maybe you know quite a bit about us, but you’re thinking, ‘how the heck did these Leeds locals come to be?’ Never fear! We are here to answer all your burning questions! We’ll be sharing some helpful tidbits on our socials about who we are, how we got here, and what services exactly we provide. You might even get a glimpse of what it’s like to be one of our lucky tenants (if you’re not one already).😉

To kick things off, here is a bit about how we got started. Back in the 80s, the Leeds Design Innovation Centre [46 The Calls] was the group’s first development when The Calls was not for the faint-hearted, but prime for regeneration. Off the back of 46 The Calls’ success, the group continued to carry out design-led developments. Today, we at YDG carry on the vision of our founders and strive to create a home for growing companies. YDG is our name, creative space is our game.💪
