Are you buying a house with a loft conversion that hasn't been signed off by building control?

Did you know there may be hidden issues with the structure and there may not be safe escape in the event of a fire among other potential issues? It can cause you issues with getting a mortgage and the room cannot be advertised as a bedroom by the estate agents. An unauthorised loft room must not be used as a bedroom as there may not be the appropriate fire protection measures in place to ensure the occupants are safe.

We check this when we undertake building surveys for buyers to ensure our clients and their families are safe. If you're looking at buying a house and need a survey then please get in touch.
