Construction is set to begin later this year on one of Leeds’ most significant residential developments after contractor Winvic Construction secured a £130 million contract to deliver two build-to-rent towers on the former International Swimming Pool site near the city centre. The scheme, which has now received Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator, will provide 578 new apartments across 33 and 22-storey towers, alongside commercial space, roof terraces and extensive resident amenities.
The project forms the latest phase of the wider Lisbon Street regeneration programme and reflects the growing importance of Gateway 2 approval in bringing high-rise residential schemes forward under the UK’s new building safety regime. Sustainability is also a key focus, with photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps and enhanced building fabric designed to reduce operational energy demand.
Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026.
