Here are our top tips for budgeting during your first year as a student (and beyond)…

• Be savvy and creative with how you food shop and cook: remember to plan ahead for the week and bulk prep meals to help save time

• Take out your weekly budget allocation to ensure you don't overspend and put the leftover aside for future needs

• Keep an eye out for the best deals at your local shops

• Round up your budget allocation to allow yourself a buffer, that way the extra you don’t spend will be more rewarding

• Ensure your accommodation is safe and secure to avoid extra costs
