So this is a small insight to how a small insurance claim can escalate. The owner had some mortar blow out of the gable end of the house. It fell into this “summer room” roof which was in turn damaged, the roof material contained asbestos, to remove it safely the ceiling had to be dropped, the wood panelling on the walls removed, the floor taken up, the electrics upgraded, the walls plastered, the ceiling cladded, the back door replaced, new wood flooring out down, and finally decorated. It was nice to see this one through from day one of the strip out until completion today.

Every days a school day!
15 years ago I was at risk of being made redundant from the job I’d had for 17 years. I knew very little else. I went back to college 2 nights a week for two years to do my plumbing qualifications after that I learnt to tile, fit kitchens, bathrooms, flooring etc. Fast forward 12 years and I’m still learning. One thing I’ve never been great at is plastering so always left it to others. It was actually one of the first trades I tried at the age of 10. My dad sent me with his pal in school holidays to “learn a trade”. Last year a mate of mine was patient enough to show me how to get on, today I had a go alone and it went ok. My point is you’re never to old to learn a new skill. Don’t let anyone or anything hold you back, you’ll make mistakes but that’s how you learn. Have a go.
