Our client faced an alleged overpayment of around £93,000 in Housing Benefit and Tax Credits after a deprivation of capital finding.

We challenged the decision, prepared detailed representations and attended the hearing on her behalf. The appeal was allowed, the superseding decision was set aside, and it was found that the alleged overpayment was not recoverable.

This was a significant outcome for our client, who was very pleased with both the result and our service. Her flowers, thank-you cards and chocolates were greatly appreciated by our team.

If a PIP claim is refused, or the award is lower than expected, that does not always mean the matter is over. In many cases, the next steps may include a Mandatory Reconsideration and, if necessary, an appeal to an independent tribunal.

Strong preparation, clear evidence and early advice can make a real difference in helping claimants understand the strongest route forward.

We can assist with PIP claims, Mandatory Reconsiderations and appeals.

A refusal does not always mean the matter is over.

The right next step will depend on the reasons for refusal and the wider facts of the case. In some matters, there may be a right of appeal. In others, a fresh application or another challenge route may place the case in a stronger position.

Understanding why the refusal happened in the first place is key. Better evidence, the correct route and early legal advice can make a real difference in deciding how best to move matters forward.

Companies House identity verification is now a key compliance point for businesses to keep under review.

From 18 November 2025, identity verification became a legal requirement. For many existing companies, this is being phased in through a 12-month transition period, so it is important to check when the relevant due date applies.

For businesses, early preparation matters. Identifying the right individuals, understanding when verification is required, and keeping company records under review can help avoid compliance issues later.
