In this new series, we're breaking down the auction terms you need to know, starting with one of the most important: the reserve price.
The reserve price is the minimum amount a seller is willing to accept for their property. If bidding doesn't reach this figure, the property won't sell on the day. For example, if a property has a reserve price of ยฃ100,000 and bidding only reaches ยฃ99,000, it won't sell.
The reserve is agreed privately between the seller and the auctioneer, so it's never advertised to bidders.
And if a property doesn't reach its reserve on the day? Interested buyers can make post-auction offers by contacting their local Auction House team.
