We've had an amazing response to the call for bike donations for Afghan refugees living in the MOD-run camp in Crowborough, organised by local charity LOSRAS.

We're now extending the donation period until 26 April. Please bring roadworthy bikes, of any size including for children, down to Phoenix House (32-33 North Street, Lewes BN7 2QJ), Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm. Ring the bell and our site team will take the bikes from you and deposit them in a shed on site.

These are families who worked with the British Armed Forces in Afghanistan and who were evacuated, or escaped to Pakistan, when the Taliban took over. The children are not in school as the current Crowborough accommodation is temporary and they have little in the way of activities or sport. The MOD has therefore asked for bicycles – they have a few but are keen to find as many as they can to distribute fairly among the families.

Local charity LOSRAS is organising the donation of bikes for Afghan refugees living in the MOD-run camp in Crowborough.

From Monday 8 April until Friday 19 April, please bring donations down to Phoenix House (32-33 North Street, Lewes BN7 2QJ), Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm. Ring the bell and our site team will take the bikes from you and deposit them in a shed on site.

The bikes, of any size including for children, must be in a good and roadworthy condition – although a small repair, such as a flat tyre or new brake blocks can probably be repaired by kind volunteers.

β€œThese are families who worked with the British Armed Forces in Afghanistan and who were evacuated, or escaped to Pakistan, when the Taliban took over,β€œ Losras explains. β€œThey have just recently arrived in the UK to settle here through the MOD. The children are not in school as the current Crowborough accommodation is temporary and they have little in the way of activities or sport. The MOD has therefore asked for bicycles - they have a few but are keen to find as many as they can to distribute fairly among the families.β€œ

Your support is much appreciated.
