With the Liverpool City Region preparing to head to India this October to boost UK trade and investment, our CEO Colin Sinclair has issued a rallying cry for the opportunity on our doorstep.

Speaking to Media, Colin, Insider's Property Personality of the Year and chair of the Invest Liverpool City Region Partnership Taskforce, said:

"I think Liverpool is probably the city region in the country with the greatest opportunity."

From HEMISPHERE and Pall Mall to the Littlewoods building the pipeline is real and with the strongest, most stable political leadership the region has ever had, the message to global investors is simple: now is the time.

"We're at a tipping point now in the Liverpool City Region. We need to build on that momentum."

KQ Interns 2026 - Graduating cohort 🎓

The past three weeks have seen our second cohort of interns undertake bespoke placements with local businesses, through out KQ Futures programme.

👩‍🏫 Today, the interns presented their projects at a celebratory event, sharing a glimpse into the technical knowledge they have gained, as well as the invaluable soft skills they have developed.

💛 What stood out most was the self-belief, pride, confidence and gratitude that all interns had, and it is so rewarding for our team to hear just how much the interns have appreciated and benefited from the opportunities presented to them. Their futures are looking extremely bright already!

🎮 We'd also like to express huge thanks to the host businesses who offered work placements to our interns: PlayStation, MyCardium AI, Manufacturing Technology Centre, LYVA Labs, Skyhook Games, Hatter's Digital Agency, Yozu, plus Draw & Code, as well as Andy Kent and Samawer Sohail who have certainly made a lasting impression on our interns.

Today we were delighted to welcome 20 young people to our KQ Future Innovators - Summer Special. 🌞

Throughout the session the cohort:
- Gained industry insights
- Learnt more about the innovation happening across Liverpool City Region
- Boosted their employability skills through an industry focused task
- Networked with peers
- Practiced their presentation skills in front of an audience
- Received a certificate acknowledging their participation and achievements

🤩 We were really impressed with the ideas, confidence and enthusiasm within the room, and we wish participants all the best for their future careers!

Our CEO Colin Sinclair is limbering up for his biggest challenge yet, an epic 120-mile run from the Lake District to Liverpool, the equivalent of FOUR consecutive ultra marathons.

📍 Starting: Hope Park, Keswick — Monday 7th September
🏁 Finishing: Hope Street, Liverpool — Thursday 10th September
via Paddington Village, future home of Sciontec's HEMISPHERE labs!

The 'Hope to Hope' route celebrates Stage 2 of the 2027 Tour de France, which will roll into Liverpool next July

We’re finalists within the ‘Inclusion Initiative of the Year’ category, for our KQ Futures programme as well! 🏆🤞🏻

We're proud finalists for the 'Deal of the Year - Offices and Workspace' award, at the national Commercial Property Awards 2026! 🏆

At tonight's ceremony in London, we'll find out if we're taking home the title, in the 30th Anniversary edition of the Property Week awards, reflecting the successful launch of our CENTRAL TECH innovation hub (within just 65 days from the transfer of ownership), which is now operating at 90% capacity just 6 months into the current financial year).

KQ Liverpool is also a finalist within the 'Inclusion Initiative of the Year' category, thanks to its pioneering inclusive innovation and skills programme.

We're all keeping our fingers crossed that the transformative work we undertake in Liverpool is recognised on a national level. Wish us luck!

✨ Career Insights Day 2026 - 109 students, 8 schools, 1 design challenge!

The third installment of our annual Career Insights Day took place at The Spine yesterday, giving Year 7 to 9 students the chance to learn more about the LCR Innovation Zone, discover different routes into diverse careers, and hear directly from local innovators about the impactful work their organisations are undertaking.

👩‍💻 Big thanks to our inspiring panelists Adam Roberts, Carmel Murphy, Colin Sinclair and Leanne Katsande (covering everything from microbiology, to rapid prototyping, to innovative workspace, and marketing considerations), as well as our super session facilitators Rachel Newman and Codi Ellis.

🧪 Students were then set a breakout challenge to 'design a lab of the future' taking inspiration from Sciontec’s HEMISPHERE development.

👏 Congratulations to the winning team from Holly Lodge Girls College, who not only considered what the lab would look like, but also the the types of businesses that could locate there!

They went above and beyond in their thinking, designing an innovative lab as well as a company that would locate within it, developing a novel solution to overcome people's fears of needles, by providing the medical treatment via chewable fruit gummies rather than scary needles!

👨‍🎓 Teaching innovation through Continuing Professional Development.

A mix of education leads from across Liverpool City Region joined us yesterday for a Teacher Encounters Day, in collaboration with the Liverpool City Region Careers Hub, as part of our KQ Futures programme.

Following a and focused workshop, the group took a tour around our innovation district to see innovation in action, and the subsequent feedback has been extremely positive!
