Welcome to the bank holiday weekend and this week’s !

Theres a bit to talk about here so we've had to spill over into the comments section to get it all in...😎

Our teams have been delivering survey projects across the UK this week, from Glasgow to London, with one project in the sector standing out. We continue to provide highly accurate data for a Grade I listed church in the North West, supporting the preservation of these incredible buildings.

We’re also proud to be taking part in UK Small Business Week from 1st -7th June. As a small business, we know how important SMEs are to the UK economy, and we’re always keen to support other small businesses and independents wherever we can. So during the first week of June, shop small, shop local and do business with the SMEs you know and trust.

Earlier this week, we were guests of our friends at an event with Jason McAteer () as guest speaker, plus one or two other familiar footballing faces dotted around the room. A couple of signatures on a retro shirt were definitely in order — thanks for the invite guys!

Thursday saw us consume the usual enormous amount of tea in the office as it was International Tea Day ☕ – we consume a LOT of tea at FSL; it could be said that our surveys are definitely “powered by tea” at times.

Another great effort from the team this week as we continue to see a steady uplift in projects getting off the ground.

As well as survey projects across the North of England (both above & below ground), some of our team attended an in-depth traversing & survey control computations course in Manchester to ensure we are at the top of our game - accurate, robust, survey control underpins all of our projects as you would expect.

This time of year sees us undertake annual surveys across a variety of sites in the North as part of a stock control and re-ordering system for our long-standing client. These jobs are great as they allow us to make use of our company , known as Alf!

For those that read last week's which focused on the Indian Ocean row, there are only 18 days to go before the team departs for Oz. A little disappointingly , they've had a couple of sponsors pull out this week, so need as much help as possible from any financial or product sponsors. This week's is a bit different from the norm...

Formby Surveys are extremely proud to sponsor a project which may be deemed "a bit of a mad idea". Glyn Roberts (), who is the brother of our MD, is part of a 4 person (2 men & 2 women) crew attempting to set not 1, but 2 world records by rowing across the Indian Ocean in a boat not much bigger than an average living room.

The crew head off next month to Oz where they will row from Exmouth in Western Australia to Mombasa in Kenya - a journey of around 5,500 miles that will take around 100 days.

But it gets better...
..they are attempting this epic endurance feat UNSUPPORTED! 👀 🤯

The 2 world records they are looking to set are the first mixed team to complete the continent to continent row and Lara & Susannah are looking to become the first females to complete the continent to continent row.

This is part of the Brain Waves Challenge and involves some pretty experienced ocean rowers, so it wasn't just dreamed up one night after a few beers. All the info can be found on their website http://www.monkeyfistadventures.com and you can follow them on Instagram () as well as Facebook & X.

They are raising money for 2 amazing charities - and and would really appreciate your help and support. This challenge has the backing of some pretty big hitters, but there are various individual & corporate sponsorship & donation options detailed on their website to enable pretty much anyone to get involved.

It's back! Today sees the return of .

Whilst this week has been fuelled mainly by coffee, we have seen our department continue to grow with increased interest, particularly in the semi-automated solutions that we provide - if you have a need for movement monitoring of a building or structure over a period of time get in touch.

The team have been out an about all over the UK again and we have attended a marketing workshop, Liverpool Interact's annual investment lunch and also undertaken a few surveys along the way 😀.

Our MD also attended the quarterly council meeting in Manchester where he serves on the Survey Association's national council whose aim is to drive our industry forward through initiatives, collaboration and standards.

Finally, congratulation goes to Jordan for 5 years at FSL which was marked with a well-earned promotion to Senior Surveyor – well done Jordan 👍.

A second round of congratulations to Jordan Maddocks this week. Not only have we been celebrating his 5 year work anniversary, but we are pleased to announce Jordan's promotion to Senior Surveyor. 👏

This promotion will see Jordan responsible for large projects and his team on site, as well overseeing the workflows and equipment we utilise out in the field.

Congratulations to Jordan Maddocks, who this week has celebrated 5 years as part of the team at FSL. Jordan is a great team member who embodies the culture we have here at FSL and we look forward to the next 5 years!

Many thanks to Project Four for the invite to their Ladies' Day racing session in the The Bridewell on Friday afternoon! Always a great social event this and managed to catch up with plenty of familiar faces - as well as back a decent winner!

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Beth Peers to the position of Associate Director (Projects), recognising her exceptional contribution to our business and her continued leadership within the delivery team.

Beth joined us back in 2017, as part of an apprenticeship scheme, and progressed to CAD Technician, CAD Manager and now Associate Director, showing what is possible for young talent in this industry.

In her new role, Beth will take on increased responsibility for project delivery, team development and strategic decision-making as well as working closely with the Board to drive the future direction of Formby Surveys.

Congratulations Beth, truly well deserved. 😎😎

We are delighted to have recently welcomed Ash to the team as our new Utilities Manager. He will head up our in-house team covering all underground services, utilities, & .

Whilst we have provided this service for a number of years, it's time for a dedicated, internal team to enable us to offer a more integrated approach to our broad range of services.

Ash brings with him a decade's worth of experience in this field and we are chuffed to have him onboard.
