I'm sure you can appreciate that a building like this, owned by the village is a unique thing and should be protected. As a stand for what we should value.
Why?
It must modernise of course. It must adapt to a new era if it's saved but it's also been built and used for 133 years by working class people.
It's days away from being sold to private developers or an individual who may or may not do the best thing for it for the village.

Tumble workies may be bought out, kept going for a year but then what? That private owner can decide to sell it and make a huge profit. All from your hands and from the colliers that built it with hard graft and 61 of them died in the mines.
All because we didn't decide between us to pay just £2 or £5 per month to save it.
It's owned by the village. Must be saved by the village and it can then be moulded into a new type of community hub by the village
Or it can be put into the hands of a private individual and you'll have zero say in what that large piece of land becomes next.
If we can show we want to save it and help pay the costs/debt then it opens up eligiblity for grants and funding to make it better.
