Both sides have an input when deciding the completion date. It must be suitable for both parties. There could be chains involved too which needs to be taken into consideration.

Side Note: Completion is different from Exchange of Contracts. Exchange of contracts occurs when all the conveyancing is done and deposits have been transferred to your solicitors (usually takes around 3 months) Completion is when you get your keys and can move in. In most cases this happens at the same time but that is not necessarily the case with new builds. You could exchange contracts and look to move in a year later!
