Fear is a powerful force, often more scary than what lies on the other side.

As a parent and serial entrepreneur, I still find myself balancing dreams for my businesses and family with the weight of self-doubt and self-sabotage.

But when they do, I think back to when I’ve felt the fear and done it anyway.

Rather than knuckle down and agree to their terms, I took a bold step. I called their bluff and chose to walk away.

It was a moment of extreme bravery, and yes, of rashness. But the instant I cut that tie I was amazed at how light I felt.

The fears that had dogged me for weeks leading to the decision disappeared. The reality of taking action was far less daunting than I had imagined.
