Millions of households could get an early Christmas boost as the Bank of England is widely expected to cut interest rates next week from 4% down to 3.75%. Lenders are already trimming mortgage rates in anticipation, with markets pricing in a 90%+ chance of a December cut.

And it may not stop there: forecasts suggest another two (possibly three) reductions through 2026, potentially taking the base rate towards 3%.

All eyes are now on Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey, whose comments this Wednesday could set the tone ahead of the 18 December rate decision.

Good news may finally be on the horizon for buyers and movers heading into the new year.
