Another milestone reached at Television Centre!

Yesterday saw the topping out of The Ariel, a 25-storey residential tower, and Scenery House, a mid-rise residential block – together delivering 347 new homes as part of Phase 2 of the Television Centre masterplan.

The topping out was marked by a traditional Sake Barrel Breaking Ceremony ‘kagami-biraki’. Following Japanese tradition, representatives from Mitsui Fudosan UK, Stanhope and , broke open the lid of the sake barrel using a wooden mallet, before a toast to progress on site.

Once complete in Q3 2027, these developments will add 470,000 sq ft of residential space, complementing the iconic Grade II listed and creating new pedestrian connections through to Hammersmith Park. The Ariel has been designed by and the Scenery block designed by .

Team Stanhope PLC were getting into the festive spirit yesterday with , helping to decorate one of their residential services in Central London.

It was lovely to meet some of the clients and staff and read the tree decorations with festive messages from supporters of the charity.

The Stanhope Foundation was founded to fund and raise awareness of charities that support people to find hope and pride through meaningful employment. Partnering with charities with dedicated employment-focused programmes, our investment helps people to find work for the first time, return to work after a prolonged break, or tackle work-related issues due to ill health.

Well done to everyone who battled the extra challenge of the wind and the rain to take part in Dig Deeper last week!

It was a particularly poignant occasion on the event’s 10-year anniversary as we remembered dear friend to many at Stanhope, Jeremy Edwards. Link in bio for the Dig Deeper fundraising page in memory of Jeremy if anyone would still like to donate.

Dig Deeper has raised over £500,000 in total which is an incredible amount and has made such a difference to the two charities that it supports: Anthony Nolan and The 353 Trust.

Wishing our colleagues who took part (Fiona Mansfield, Peter Allen, Kevin Darvishi, Charlie Russell-Jones, Paul Lewis and Samuel Missin) a restful (and dry!) week ahead.

Alongside Cheyne Capital, we are incredibly excited to have completed the acquisition of Row One, a landmark development site on London’s South Bank, with planning consent for a new 250,000 sq ft office tower with a Gross Development Value of £450 million.

The transaction reflects both parties’ strong conviction in the strength of occupier demand for sustainably developed, prime Central London office space with integrated technology, high quality amenities and excellent transport connectivity.

Situated between London Bridge and Southwark Bridge, the development offers unrestricted views across the river to the City and St. Paul’s. Features will include 18 terraces, most overlooking the River Thames, a world class amenity provision featuring a club room and wellness centre, as well as market-leading end of trip facilities, including 724 bike spaces and 54 showers, and a carefully curated new public realm.

Joe Binns, Head of Investment at Stanhope, commented: “This was a rare opportunity to acquire a significantly de-risked, best-in-class office development opportunity in one of London’s most vibrant and dynamic sub-markets. We are firm believers in the appeal of the South Bank as a complementary business district to the City of London, with recent activity across both our own portfolio, and the wider market, underscoring this confidence.”

Looking back on an inspiring week of youth engagement at Television Centre!

Last week, the project team hosted a series of sessions aimed at introducing local young people to the wide range of careers available within the built environment industry.

Using the Arches at Television Centre in White City as the location and inspiration for the sessions, the workshops explored the full development journey — from planning and design, through to construction, leasing, sales, and asset management.

Participants worked in teams to reimagine potential uses for the Arches, considering practical aspects like access, deliveries, footfall, and outside space. The week’s activities concluded with the teams presenting their ideas. The winning group will now have the opportunity to take part in work experience placements with Multiplex later this year.

A huge well done to all the young people who took part — your creativity and insight were incredible. We hope the experience helped build confidence and offered a clearer view of the exciting opportunities within the built environment sector.

Special thanks to , Mitsui Fudosan UK, , and for making the sessions possible — and to our industry partners from , , , and for taking part.
