Topic: A NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES

Devotional Reading: Philippians 2:1-11

Memorize: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth Philippians 2:9&10

From time immemorial, both biblically and in current times, names are very important. Most parents and guardians don't just give name to a child, careful considerations are made before naming a child, because that name will affect the life and future of that child, it may also affect the family. I know some people who have changed their names after they met with the Lord and gave their lives to Christ.

Some people in bible times also changed their names. In Genesis 17:16; Abram was renamed to Abraham; in Genesis 32:28; Jacob was renamed to Israel. There are some reasons why names are very important in the bible:
1, A biblical name could record some aspects of a person's birth
2, Biblical name sometimes expresses the parent's reaction to the birth of their child
3, Biblical names could be used to communicate God's message
4, Biblical names are given to establish authority over another; it could be to indicate a new beginning or new direction in a person's life.

In today's devotional, we are looking at the name Jesus, the name that is lifted above every other name, this name is not an ordinary name. The name means 'Saviour' Matthew 1:21; And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The name Jesus was given as a sign of deliverance from sin and its consequences, without the intervention of Jesus, the whole earth will perish without recovery. The name Jesus was also given for preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin or losses. Few years ago, i was driving from Ogun state to Lagos state in Nigeria, the tyre of the car i was driving suddenly burst at high speed on a major high way, i began to lose control of the vehicle, i shouted the name JESUS, JESUS, the name worked for me, the power of God controlled the vehicle and prevented it from crashing into nearby valley.
The name of Jesus gives us identity as Christians - Acts 11:26.
The name of Jesus is above every other name - Philippians 2:9-11;
Only through the name of Jesus that we can recieve from God - John 6:23&24
The entirety of who Jesus is and what he can do is in his name - Mark 16:17&18;
The name of Jesus works 24/7 without stopping "Revelation 1:18; I am he that liveth, and was dead, and behold, i am alive forevermore, Amen, and have the keys of hell and death.
The devil trembles and is sore afraid at the mention of the name JESUS, Matthew 8:29.
The name Jesus is a strong tower of safety and protection for the righteous - Proverbs 18:10
The name Jesus produce instant miracle - Acts 9:34

If you have not given your life to Christ; do so today so that you can enjoy the blessings in the name that is lifted above all other names, that name is called Jesus. Confess your sin's; forsake them and ask for mercy, you will be forgiven, your name will be written in the lamb's book of life and you will enjoy the benefits of becoming a child of God, may the LORD bless and keep you as you surrender to that name JESUS, you too will be lifted above every demonic and evil powers in Jesus name.

Remember to call on the name JESUS whenever you are in danger, it will work for you. Stay close to Jesus!

Prayer point: Father, give me the grace to be identified with you and surrender my life to you in your holy name.

Key Dose: Jesus is the ONLY way, the truth and the life, his name work wonders.

Topic: BENEFITS OF GOD'S GRACE

Memorize: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:8

Devotional Reading: Ephesians 2:1- 10

Happy Friday to all our readers, it is often said by some "Thank God it's Friday" while some others will say "Gratitude Friday" we thank God for bringing us the end of another working week. Couple of days ago, we discussed "SUSTAINED BY GRACE" today by the grace of God, we will look at "BENEFITS OF GOD'S GRACE" The dictionary defines Grace as “The free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of souls of sinners and the bestowal of it's blessings.” In this dictionary definition, it’s clear that there are a couple of specific ways Grace works for Christians: It’s free, which means it costs us nothing. It is unmerited, which means we neither deserve it nor earn it by merit.

This unmerited grace comes with a package of great benefits. It is like finding the illusive pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and then enjoying the benefits throughout your entire lifetime. Perhaps the most obvious benefit of grace is that it brings about spiritual salvation which is the most important to all mankind. Because of Grace, we can live forever in the presence of God. It is not some magical genie in a bottle released for you to squander wishes on, though Grace does also bestow additional blessings that we get to enjoy during our lifetime here on earth. These blessings all point back to Christ and for his glory alone. For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to all men. —Titus 2:11

Today I will share with you four benefits of God's grace and on Monday by God's grace I will complete them.

1. Ability to forgive others. Our ability to forgive others is only made possible because of grace. We forgive others as we have been forgiven. It’s Christ’s example and work of grace. It shows us how to treat others. Why should we forgive others? Because it frees us to enjoy happiness and peace. Unforgiveness is a form of bo***ge, it puts one in captivity and we must escape from it.

2. It enables peaceful living. Much like the therapeutic effects of forgiveness, grace paints a similar picture and makes for a more peaceful existence. When we love others and treat them the way we want to be treated, there is no room to harbour grudges or other exhausting negative emotions. According to Hebrews 12:14; The Grace of God helps us to "Follow peace with all men and Holiness without which No man shall see the LORD". The end result is peace to all and strong hope to see and live with God in Heaven at the end of our lives here on earth

3. This third benefit is connected to the second one. The Grace of God brings about Hope. In grace, we have the hope of everlasting life. We also have the confidence that God has good plans for us which include a glorious future and hope of eternal life with Him. The bible says in Mark 8:36 "What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"

4. The fourth benefit is Divine Healing. Divine Healing is possible through grace and was obtained through Christ’s willingness to take on a punishment that was meant for us. Isaiah 53:5; "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our Iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Although some people have doubts if Divine Healing is still possible today, but I know that by the grace of God, Divine Healing and deliverance is still possible today, it is an Heritage of the children of God according to the words of Jesus in Matthew 15:26.

My prayer for you today is that the Grace of God will work for you far beyond your thoughts and widest imaginations in Jesus name. Enjoy a graceful weekend!

Prayer: O LORD, let your Grace have strong effects on me and continue to work in my life like an ocean in Jesus name.

Key Dose: The grace of God will take you where the strenght of man cannot take you.

Topic: FULFILLING YOUR DREAM

“When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter; and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.’” Psalm 126:1-2.

Happy mid-week to all our readers, we thank God for his mercy which has continued to keep us, for which we are grateful. Yesterday, we looked at sustained by Grace, by the grace of God, today, we will look at the grace of God that makes you "fulfill your dreams"

There is beautiful hymn that says all good gifts around us are sent from Heaven above, then thank the LORD, oh thank the LORD, for all his love. This Hymn is to remind us that we receive all the good gifts of life from God the Father of love and grace.

Part of the work of grace is to illuminate our minds with great and visionary ideas which brings us exciting moments that truly inspires us. When we feel galvanised by a dream that gives us focus and energy. When we feel a calling from God to do something special for His Kingdom, we jump with excitement and look forward in anticipation.

Yet, for various reasons, these dreams may not be fulfilled at the time we expected. Perhaps they have been abandoned. Perhaps delayed.

Unfulfilled dreams can be frustrating. They haunt us. Plague us. Perplex us. They constantly can linger in our thoughts. We sometimes feel like a pregnant woman who is over due to give birth, it can be very discomforting.
Many people are like those Israelites who dreamed of a day when the Lord would bring back “the captive ones of Zion.” They longed for this dream to be fulfilled, but it seemed impossible; it takes the grace of God to make it happen. Suddenly, the LORD, turned again their captivity by the power of His grace, and they were like them that dream. We must realise that if our breakthroughs or miracles are delayed, it does not mean we are denied, what it sometimes means is that God is testing our patience or in the process of working out our breakthrough, in such a situation, we need to have faith and trust the grace of God to perform it.

Abraham's dream of becoming the father of many nations was delayed for about 25 years, the waiting time must have been challenging, but he waited on God and trust in his word.

Then, God by His grace performed a miracle. He “gave Abraham, the promised child - Isaac, when it humanly seemed impossible” he was no longer dreaming, but his mouth was filled with laughter and his tongue with joyful singing.”

People all around could see that God had “done great thing for Abraham” He showed that He still could intervene in the affairs of man. He could change human circumstances, and make what seemed impossible to come true by His grace. He could fulfill delayed or forgotten dream as part of the work of His grace.

Have you dreamed and it seems delayed? Or has God given you a promise and it has not come to pass? Don't give up and don't be discouraged, delayed is not denial, have faith in God and trust Him, if God has said it, He will do it.
Remember that He is the same God Yesterday, today and forever. He still performs miracles and answers the prayers of those who reach out in faith.

The Bible reminds us that God does not want you to be filled with despair. Hold unto his promise with unshakable faith like Abraham did, don't allow that dream evaporate from your memory like Joseph did, stay with that vision like Daniel, guard that idea firmly in your heart like Nehemiah, Stay faithful, and don’t give up. Remember, God can do all things for those who believe, He will do yours too, in Jesus name.

I pray for you today, that God will turn around your captivity and help you fulfill your dreams in Jesus name; God will bring to speedy manifestation, every delayed dream or promises in your life so that your mouth will be filled with laughter and your tongue with singing in the mighty name of Jesus.

Prayer point: O God of possibilities, please turn around my captivity today and help me fulfill my dreams in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Remember that with God, all things are possible, delay is not denial, hold unto God for fulfilment of your dream.

Topic: SUSTAINED BY GRACE

Memorize: They glorify God for your professed subjection into the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men. And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. 2 Corinthians 9:13-14

Devotional Reading: Acts 9:1-19

As we continue our journey of life this second day of another working week, we thank God for His marvellous grace that is upon us which has kept and sustained us till today, if we look all around us and our lives, we can testify that we have been saved and sustained by grace. The grace of God is immeasurable, it is inexhaustible, it saved us even when we didn't deserve it. The grace that delivered us from the cage of the enemies, if Jesus had not come to die for us, our lives would have been so miserable because Satan was prepared to destroy human kind with the venom of sin; but thanks be to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who sent His ONLY begotten son Jesus Christ to die and give us victory over Satan, sin, the world and flesh. As believers, we are products of God's amazing grace, it was grace that saved us.

During the early days of Paul, he was full of cruelty, brutality and hatred against Christians. The Devil used him severely, he was given order by the King to kill Christians. Anyone will think such a man that did so much evill should never have found grace and be forgiven, talkless of being an Apostle. The grace of God made it possible, a persecutor of the church became saved and began to preach, evangelising and helping sinners come back to God, he became a product of grace.

Paul understood this and said in his letter to the church at Corinth "I am what I am by the grace of God" I Corinthians. 15:10

Another example of God's exceeding grace was David. This man committed so much evil in the sight of God. He married many wives, killed another man and took his wife. Yet the Bible referred to him as a man after God's heart. Isn't that amazing? How can that be? I don't know, all I can say is, this man found and enjoyed God's exceeding grace. Among all the kings that ruled in Israel, David's reign was never forgotten. A day was set aside to celebrate him in Israel till date.

There are products of this great grace of God even in our day's. There is a man of God in one of the West African countries, In one of his revival programs, he shared his true life story, how he was a member of satanic kingdom, they took hundreds of lives on the high way. He explained how their mission was to kill people through car accidents, then drink their blood and go their way. He said they kept doing this until one day Jesus appeared to him and said "I died for you to save you from this evil and the impending judgement that is coming upon the wicked people of the world, I need you in my kingdom therefore stop your evil doing and give your life to me" that was how he gave his life to Christ and eventually became a pastor. That night hundreds of souls were saved after he shared his testimony at the revival. You may ask again how can God save such a man like that? The answer is Our God is merciful, His love and grace is immeasurable it has no ending - John 3:16.

Brethren I can go on and on telling you how the exceeding grace of God has saved and sustained so many people including myself. You and I are products of this exceeding grace. Whatever good and great you become today either in work, business or ministry, it is not by your power or might or knowledge, it is by the grace of God; Consider this: Romans 5:8; But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" That is the work of grace. My friend out there, are you feeling condemned because of your sins, I want to tell you that Christ has paid it all for you, grace is available for you today, therefore come out of your sinful life and embrace this grace of God. It will work for you and save you in the mighty name of Jesus.

May the LORD help you take advantage of this exceeding grace of God while it is still available in Jesus name.

Prayer: O Lord, i look unto you today, please let your exceeding grace work for me and transform my life for better in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Nothing is impossible for the Grace of God to accomplish.

Topic: VICTORY OVER STORM

Devotional Reading: Daniel 3:1-25

Memory Verse: He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Daniel 3:25

Happy New Week to all readers of DOH daily devotional, as we start this new working week, the LORD would want us to look at a topic "Victory over Storm". Some Christians have a misconception about Christianity, they think once you are saved, Its all bed of roses, you are immuned against the storms and trials of life. Christianity is not immunity against problems and challenges of life. Jesus never promised us that we will not be tried, or afflicted, He never told us that we will not go through storm, what He told us according to Isaiah 43:2 was - When thou passest through the waters, i will be with thee: and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

The three Hebrew children were faithful Christians, they experienced peace in the midst of their storm because the Son of God was with them in the fire. They had a winning Spirit that will not bow to the threat of the enemy, coupled with the fact that they were bold and courageous in God.

Peter walked on water with Jesus because he had a winning Spirit, he had courage and he was able to do it until his faith began to shake.
How do we walk on the water with Jesus? How do we walk through the storm? It is by having a winning Spirit and Courage that can not be intimidated.

Now by storm I don’t mean a physical storm, but the, trials, difficulties, dangers and temptations that may come our way in life. Remember that God have not promised us an easy voyage, but a safe arrival

Take for example, you are having a good day, the sun is shining, and then the phone rings, and you’re in the middle of a storm, Or you find yourself facing a collapse in your career or on a project. You get a pink slip, a dismissal. You or your close family gets a bad doctor’s report. Currently, our world is infected by multiple challenges, many are negatively affected, it is a type of storm in our world today.

The fact is no one is immune. As i mentioned earlier, Christianity is not immunity from problems, trials and struggles of life. Storms are inevitable, but with courage and having a winning Spirit, we will overcome them.

The good news is that what comes to pass doesn’t come to stay. We are able to learn how to have an unshakable, unsinkable faith in times like these. Faith works, Courage works, having a winning Spirit works if we apply them, where there is a will, there will always be a way, may the LORD make a way of breakthrough and escape for you in Jesus name.

When God is perfecting us, He actually allow trials which is a form of storm into our lives. Remember Job, he went through his trials with a winning Spirit and courage. Jesus knows when the storms hit us, they will refine and transform us to stronger believers. He uses these storms in our lives to draw us closer to Him.

He uses these winds that blow against us in our lives to perfect us and make us more resilient.

If you are going through storm, i pray for you today that God will give you victory in all known and unknown battles and make you touch not in Jesus name. i want to assure you that God will not allow those challenges of life to destroy you, rather, they will work out for your good to the glory of God just as He did for the three Hebrew children and for Job.. May the LORD give you the same or greater testimony today in Jesus name.

Prayer point: O LORD, please give me victory in all known and unknown battles, make me touch not and give me abundant testimonies in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Unspeakable Joy and abundant testimonies await you in this season as you put your trust and confidence in God totally in all situations.
