🚨 RENT CONTROLS… OFF THE TABLE? 🚨

Just weeks ago, the Prime Minister was talking about introducing rent controls, similar to those previously seen in Scotland.

Now, newly appointed Housing Minister Angela Rayner has made it clear: rent controls are not happening.

The Government’s view? The Renters’ Rights Act already provides the protections tenants need, making additional rent controls unnecessary.

For landlords, that’s an important distinction.

In reality, annual rent increases are now heavily influenced by market rent, and any proposed increase can be challenged. In many areas, landlords are seeing increases of around 3%—well below the 6% cap that was previously discussed in Scotland.

The private rented sector is changing fast, and keeping on top of the latest legislation has never been more important.
