Headhunted by Slazenger’s CEO, Alexei Hamblin is the 23-year old put in charge of the brand’s recent Off-Court collection.
Hamblin created videos on TikTok of him browsing Sports Direct stores and explaining what he would change about items to give them a more luxury feel. This resulted in the British sports equipment brand, founded in 1881, inviting the TikTok influencer to have full creative control over this refreshing campaign.
In 1935, Slazenger produced the first fluorescent tennis ball, as well as the first synthetic leather football - incredible history, right?
Unfortunately for the historic company, the brand fell off from what it used to be to the public, even after its bright orange ball won the England 1966 World Cup. They took a leap of faith by hiring Hamblin - a huge risk to try and re-capture an audience that they don’t have much experience with.
Well… what do you think of the outcome? 🧐
