A whole house refurbishment and extension of a family home in rural Wiltshire.

A super sustainable house featuring:
- Air source heat pump (ASHP)
- Mechanical ventilation heat recovery (MVHR)
- Air tightness
- Insulation to the original house using natural insulation and breathable finishes
- High levels of insulation to new building fabric
- Locally sourced and natural materials
- All timber structure utilising glulam instead of steel where necessary (thanks to .structures )

• COURTYARD HOUSE •

Courtyard house is nestled at the bottom of the garden of an impressive Victorian townhouse in central Brighton. The new single storey home turns its back on the multi unit residential development and associated garaging that dominate the surrounding landscape creating a secluded and tranquil home where you’d least expect it.

• RIBA SOUTH EAST SHORTLIST •

We’re delighted to be shortlisted, alongside some fantastic projects, for an RIBA award for our Courtyard House in Brighton.

This family home is organised around a planted central courtyard providing privacy from the adjacent high density housing and other neighbouring properties. The plot was located at the end of our clients garden and this privacy along with views of the birds formed the backbone of the client’s brief.

Looking forward to showing the judges around in March.
