I was so stuck on which removal company to book. I felt pressure to book the right people with it being such a crucial part of moving house. I asked around other families for recommendations and Central Moves was the only company that was actually recommended to me.
Alex came round to do the quote and was really reassuring. I think he could tell I was a bit overwhelmed with packing up my 5 bedroom family home. He explained I could leave my hanging stuff in the wardrobe and they'd pack it in special boxes for me.
Reviews for another company I was considering said that no one ever answers the phone. This is NOT the case at Central Moves. The lady I spoke to in the office (Vicky I think) was really helpful and patient with all my questions about the cancellation/postponement waiver amongst other things. She was also really helpful when I actually had to USE the waiver a week later!
Timekeeping was faultless. Packing materials were dropped off for me promptly at 8:30am on the Monday before the move (I did my own packing) by friendly staff in Central Moves uniform.
The day before moving day, as arranged, a team of 3 came to load up the majority of my stuff. Dean and Charley were great at explaining what they were doing and in what order. Jimbo held down the fort on the truck with his ninja-like organisation as they brought my furniture and boxes out. Amazing to see it all loaded so neatly and precisely!
The team didn't bat an eyelid as challenges arose. The big double-door fridge freezer needed the doors taken off, which looked like a lot of hassle but they handled it calmly and efficiently. They also had to unscrew bits off the sofa to get it out of the door but they kept in good spirits about it, which I found reassuring. Once all my stuff was loaded up, they explained the process for Moving Day the next day.
On Moving Day, the team turned up again bright and early, this time with an extra member (sorry, can't remember his name, but he was polite and helpful). Despite the rain (typical!) they removed the rest of my things (beds and other essentials) promptly and gave me helpful advice on how best to pack up the last few bits. Dean parked the truck considerately whilst getting as near to the door as possible in the rain and even spoke to the traffic warden who was passing by to explain the situation. Once everything was loaded up they left and drove to my new house and waited there for me to get the keys.
Kane from the office kept in good contact with me, calling me to check progress so I could update him on what my solicitor and estate agents were saying. Unfortunately I did not get my keys until 12 minutes past the Central Moves cut-off time for moving in. I was in a bit of a panic at this point.
Unlike my ex-husband's removal company who took his stuff back as it was past their cut-off time, Kane said my moving team were able to stay to get my things unloaded! Some extra staff even turned up too to get the job done faster!
I'm not sure I'll ever be able to express how grateful I am for the flexibility and kindness the team showed me by staying to get my things in the new house for me and my 3 children. The team went above and beyond my expectations (including getting my hefty fridge doors back on, and wrestling the headboard back on the superking size bed). I even said as it was so late to just dump the stuff in my daughter's room and I'd sort it, but Charley explained that their level of service was to leave the room in a liveable condition so he took the time to arrange the furniture in her room so it looked like a bedroom for her.
I welled up as I thanked the team at the end of the day. Moving Day should have been a stressful/sad day for a variety of reasons but the team from Central Moves helped keep it a positive experience for me and my children. I'm really glad I went with them and recommend them highly.
