Following the feature from Inside Housing, it’s great to see our recent groundbreaking of Edward Edwards’ House at 220 Blackfriars continue to generate conversation, this time in .
Edward Edward’s House is ultimately a place for local people, so being reported on and celebrated by a local title, read by our local Southwark community, is something we’re especially proud of.
Delivered in partnership with Southwark Charities , the development will provide 64 high-quality, affordable almshouses for local people aged over 55.
By providing right-sized affordable homes for over 55s, the development will also help free up much-needed family homes locally, strengthening the wider housing chain in Southwark.
At our recent breaking ground celebration, we spoke with Cllr. Sarah King, Leader of Southwark Council, about why this development matters. She said “Community-focussed developments like this play an essential role in us fostering a fairer borough for all of our residents” and are “very much a solution to being able to provide affordable housing in what is one of the most central locations of our borough.”
