Did you know we provide in-house NHS services? 🩺

Ill health can be a cause as well as a consequence of homelessness. It's a vicious cycle.

We see it every day in the percentage of people coming to our Gateway with health issues.

Yet many people facing homelessness are still turned away from GP services because of their lack of a permanent address.

🧑‍⚕️ Thanks to our partnership with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, we offer on-site healthcare, GP registration, and specialist referrals. Ensuring that local people facing homelessness receive the care they need.

Our vision is that anyone facing or experiencing homelessness in South East London can access safe, stable accommodation.

But what does this actually involve?

🏘️ While general narratives tend to focus on 'more housing' as the solution, the reality is more complicated.

Various and overlapping issues can trap you in homelessness, from rent increases to job loss, mental illness, and relationship breakdowns.

That's why we designed our services to address the diverse needs and experiences of our members. That way, they have the best chance of leaving for good.

Whether you’re fundraising, volunteering, donating, or helping to spread the word, your support of our work brings us closer to achieving our mission. 🤝

Over the last year, we supported 55 people per day on average - ranging from 37 to 74 people on any single day.

That adds up to a total of 13,609 visits to the 999 Club.

When a person experiencing homelessness visits the 999 Club for the first time, they are welcomed by our reception team, who will set up a chat with a member of our team about their situation.

From there, we can either arrange a more in-depth assessment or help connect them with other services that may be better suited to their needs.

Once we know the 999 Club is the right place for someone, they become a member and receive a warm welcome five days a week, with access to meet basic needs as well as holistic advice, support, and advocacy.

Happy Volunteers' Week to the 999 Club community!

🍽️ To celebrate and share our appreciation, yesterday, we organised a special lunch for our volunteers at Badger Badger.

"999 Club was started in 1992 by two local volunteers. And volunteers remain the absolute heartbeat of the organisation. Thank you for all you do for the 999 Club and our Members." - Charly, CEO.

Volunteers contribute to various aspects of our homelessness services, including our kitchen, reception, early bird breakfasts, housing navigation, workshops, and the Women's Sanctuary.

Plus, there's the support we receive from St Alfege Church volunteers, who have been cooking for us for 17 years!

Once again, thank you to all our amazing 999 Club volunteers for your time and dedication. You are the absolute bedrock of our charity! 🙌
