🟠Breathing life into history🟠

Every building has a story, and Ansell Lofts is no exception. Originally owned by W. Ansell and used as a Job Master building, this historic site later became an MOT garage run by the Brown Brothers. Before retiring, they applied for demolition to build two new houses, but local residents strongly opposed the plans, determined to preserve the character and history of the site.

Instead of demolition, a different approach was taken—one that focused on restoration and reimagination while respecting the building’s heritage. Working alongside local architect Erich Wessels and engineer Thierry Suc, transformed the site into a collection of loft-style homes, blending original features with contemporary design.

The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with numerous letters of support from local residents who shared a passion for protecting Wanstead’s architectural history. Today, Ansell Lofts stands as a testament to thoughtful restoration and design.
