This week, Daniel Phillips took the opportunity to present a CPD session to the Team in relation to holiday sector, exploring the planning, economic and market factors shaping one of the UK's most dynamic rural industries. The session highlighted the growing importance of domestic tourism, the changing expectations of holidaymakers and the role planning can play in supporting sustainable tourism growth.

With domestic tourism expenditure reaching significant levels and demand continuing for unique accommodation types such as lodges, glamping, holiday parks and experiential stays, the sector presents substantial opportunities for landowners, operators and developers.

At the same time, the planning landscape continues to evolve through changes to permitted development rights, emerging national policy and increasing focus on balancing tourism growth with environmental and housing considerations.

As planners, developers and operators look towards the future, successful tourism proposals will increasingly be those that combine strong commercial fundamentals with high-quality design, environmental stewardship and a clear understanding of local planning policy.

Last week we had a trip to Rotterdam, which was a lot of fun!

From a brilliant rooftop tour to a lovely South American dinner, drinks and an overnight stay, it was a great mix of learning, exploring and spending proper time together.

It’s so easy to get caught up in deadlines and all things planning, so having the chance to step away, connect and enjoy time as a team was really appreciated. We’re feeling grateful for the laughs, the conversations and the energy everyone brought.

JMS Planning and Development Ltd are pleased to share a positive result with prior approval secured for 12 new homes at Claridon House in Stanford-le-Hope.

We were pleased to support the team and lead on this second submission. The application was prepared with clear and coordinated technical information, and we addressed the transport and noise concerns raised in the previous application. This helped the proposal move forward smoothly and led to a positive decision from Thurrock Council.

Thank you to everyone involved for their work and collaboration, including:

• Client: Assetrock Essex Ltd
• Architects: PHD Associates
• Transport: TPA
• Contamination: Syntegra Consulting
• Flooding: Syntegra Consulting
• Noise: Syntegra Consulting
• Daylight and Sunlight: Stinton Jones Consulting Engineers LLP

This approval is a good example of the steady preparation and teamwork that sit behind each of our projects.

If you would like to discuss this or similar work, please feel free to get in touch with Julian Sutton or Neve Thomson.

JMS Planning & Development Ltd are pleased to announce our latest proposal, adding to our ever-expanding portfolio of high-quality housing schemes. On behalf of Regency and Co, we have submitted a residential-led outline planning application of up to 500 new homes on land to the north of South Godstone, Tandridge.

The proposal is underpinned by input from well-regarded consultants and has further evolved following extensive engagement with local residents, community groups, stakeholders, statutory consultees and the Local Planning Authority.

The realisation of new homes at this location directly responds to calls of Government to deliver increased housing on suitable land, at sustainable locations in response to demonstrable unmet need. In this instance, it would be achieved by way of a carefully considered scheme that utilises Grey Belt land.

A big thank you to the project team for their collaboration and Regency and Co (Billy Swan) for their commitment to bringing forward a high-quality proposed extension to South Godstone.

We are attending UKREiiF once again!

We are looking forward to attending UKREiiF from 19 to 21 May 2026. Our colleagues Julian Sutton and Ollie Lloyd will be there across the three days and plan to make the most of the programme, the conversations and the opportunity to catch up with people from across the sector. We are also open to discussing ongoing work, new opportunities and areas where collaboration may be explored.

If you are attending and would like to meet while you are there, we would be very happy to arrange a time to catch up!

Such a lovely team day out in Cardiff last week. We started with a great Italian lunch, wandered through Cardiff Market, and finished with drinks at Gin and Juice. A really nice chance to spend time together outside the office!

Excellent news for Newcastle Emlyn Rugby Club and the local community! 🏉

JMS Planning & Development Ltd is delighted to share that at the recent Development Management Committee meeting, members unanimously supported the proposal for a new indoor training centre at Newcastle Emlyn Rugby Club - the first of its kind in Ceredigion.

This exciting project will deliver a state of the art indoor training facility with more than 2,500m² of internal floor space, including:

✔️ A full-width indoor training pitch
✔️ A dedicated viewing gallery
✔️ Gym and strength & conditioning space
✔️ Modern changing facilities
✔️ Media and analysis room

This development will create an all-weather environment that supports player development, improves training opportunities for all age groups, and strengthens the club's long-term future within the community.

We are proud to have supported this proposal and to see such strong backing from club, community and committee members. It’s another great example of how high-quality planning and collaboration can help deliver meaningful facilities that make a real difference.

We look forward to seeing this project progress and supporting more initiatives that invest in sport, health, and local communities.
