MYTH
Coco Chanel, the famous fashion designer and perfumer, has her interlocking ‘c’ logo ornamented on all the lamp posts in London’s Westminster….
It would be lovely if it was true, however it is in fact…. a myth.
It is known that Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster
(one of the wealthiest men in the world in his time) met Coco Chanel in 1925. They had a ten year affair and he allegedly kept asking her to marry him, and she apparently didn’t want to commit. She is supposed to have stated, “There have been several Duchesses of Westminster. There is only one Chanel”
The story goes that as an amorous gesture, he had all the lamp posts in Westminster inscribed with her famous logo as an homage to her. Very romantic, but in fact, if you look on the other side of the lamp post from the two ‘C’ symbol, there’s a ‘W.’ And actually they stand for ¬Westminster City Council. These lamp posts were installed in the 1950’s long after Coco Chanel had split with the Duke of Westminster!

Unlike other countries, estate agent fees are paid by the landlords. Tenants will not be charged administration fees, but they will be asked to pay a holding deposit, which will be deducted from the first month’s rent, in order to secure a property.

These pretty little birds can be seen all across south west London! Pretty as they are, they can be quite noisy when lots are gathered together but they have become a really popular sight and on bright sunny days, they give the parks that tropical feel!
The origins of these birds are subject to speculation, but they are generally thought to have bred from birds that escaped from captivity.

This is definitely a question we get asked a lot! The London rental market is currently busy but not as busy as it has been in recent years. However, due to a demand generally outstripping supply, especially in popular areas, if there is competition on a property you may be asked to put forward your Best and Final offer, which will be over the asking price.
The Landlord will consider other things alongside price, such as the length of tenancy, employment and who will be living at the property.

London’s biggest and most important transport upgrade since the expansion of the Underground network more than 100 years ago, the new Elizabeth line has been improving the lives of millions of Londoners and commuters.
Some Elizabeth Line Facts:
- It officially opened on 17th May 2022
- This 73-mile railway runs from the west to the east of London
- It comprises two western branches, terminating at Reading and Heathrow Airport, and two eastern branches, terminating at Shenfield in Essex and Abbey Wood in southeast London
- The route passes through 41 stations
- Ten new stations have been constructed in central London, connecting Paddington, Bond Street, Liverpool Street and Canary Wharf
- The line is predicted to increase London’s train capacity by 10%

Wapping links effortlessly via Overground and bus to the City, Canary Wharf and the West End and to the hipster nightlife of urban regeneration areas Shoreditch and Hoxton. From Wapping you can see the ‘Gherkin’ in the City of London, the HSBC building in Canary Wharf, and the Shard on the South Bank.
