Last month we started the task of implementing a quiet milestone for us in Maidenhead: bringing the last of our agent-managed buildings here under direct management.

Broadway Court, which offers one and two bedroom flats in Maidenhead, is now managed entirely by our own team. There are no agents in the process any more, aside from the standard legal steps involved in any tenancy. From viewing through to day-to-day management, Broadway Court tenants now deal with Weir Bank Group directly.

This change reflects something we believe in strongly: that tenants get a better experience, and a more responsive one, when there is a direct relationship with their landlord rather than a chain of intermediaries. If you are looking for a one or two bedroom flat in Maidenhead, we would be glad to hear from you.

One of the nice things about managing a building in Worcester is the company it keeps.

Right next door to us on Foregate Street sits the Odeon, a striking piece of late-1930s cinema architecture designed by H W Weedon's practice. Construction started before the war, and the building was not finished and opened until 1950. It is included on Worcester's own Local List of Heritage Assets in recognition of its architectural and historic interest, alongside the former Gaumont cinema and the city's Victorian railway station, though it does not currently carry a national Historic England listing in its own right.

From 22 to 26 September, the Odeon becomes the main screening venue for the Worcester Film Festival, a BIFA-qualifying festival now in its seventh year, bringing independent film, industry talks, pitching events and an awards gala to the city, with previous guests including names from BAFTA and Industrial Light and Magic.
It is a good reminder that Worcester's creative life extends well beyond its cathedral and racecourse. We will be cheering the festival on from just along the street.

This Sunday is a big one for Bray.

The Bray Village Fête returns to Bray village green on Sunday 6 September, running 11am to 5pm, just a short walk from Weir Bank. It is a proper village celebration: cooking demonstrations from two of Bray's finest kitchens, Caldesi in Campagna and The Fat Duck, live music, the ever-popular dog show, a kids' fancy dress parade, and a food court bringing together local producers and some of the village's finest restaurants.

New this year is the Bray Fête Passport challenge, encouraging visitors to explore every corner of the fête for a prize, alongside the usual mix of market stalls, family games and community stands. The fête is run entirely by volunteers and supports local charities and community groups, including the Friends of St Michael's Church, Bray, and several youth organisations.

Entry is free. We will be cheering the fête committee on from just down the road.

As August draws to a close, what stands out most is the people. The contractors who go above and beyond. The tenants who have made our properties their long-term home, and the new ones who we hope will do the same. The property management teams who quietly keep everything running, month after month, without fuss. 🏠

At Weir Bank Group, that is what the summer has looked like — steady, purposeful, and rooted in the relationships that make good property management possible.

September brings something new. We look forward to sharing it. 👀

This is the last week to take advantage of our summer offer at Weir Bank in Bray. Until 31 August, new lease agreements on our serviced offices come with up to 33% off the first three months rent.

The setting — riverside, calm, surrounded by nature and within easy reach of Maidenhead — has attracted a growing number of wellness providers and SMEs looking for a workspace that does something a town centre address cannot.

Not quite ready for a physical office? Our virtual office service at Weir Bank provides a formal registered business address — all the credibility of a professional address, without the overhead. Ideal for new or mobile SMEs who need to establish a presence.

If you have been considering a move, the serviced office offer closes on Sunday. Get in touch with the WBG team directly. 🌿

Six weeks on from Andy Burnham's arrival in Downing Street, the policy picture for the private rented sector is becoming a little clearer. Housing Secretary Angela Rayner confirmed on 24 July that rent controls will not be pursued for England, pointing to the Scottish experience as evidence that controls tend to become a floor for rents rather than a ceiling. The Renters' Rights Act 2025 — which brought significant changes into force in May 2026, including the abolition of no-fault evictions and restrictions on rent increases — remains the Government's primary tool. The longer-term questions on housing delivery, taxation and commercial leases are still developing. At Weir Bank Group, we are monitoring carefully and will continue to share our perspective as things develop. 🏠

Something worth putting in the diary for October. ☕ The Maidenhead Coffee Festival returns on Sunday 4 October 2026 — 10am to 4pm at Desborough Bowling Club, 10 Green Lane, Maidenhead. Just a 15-minute walk from the station, with parking on site.
This year's theme is Taste. Expect speciality coffee, food and wine tastings, live barista demonstrations, interactive workshops, and a brilliant gathering of local roasters and food experts.
A portion of all ticket sales goes directly to Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service — which provides specialist care and support to children with life-limiting conditions across Berkshire and South Bucks.
Early bird tickets are now on sale. 🌿

Over recent months, we have noticed a growing pattern of enquiries at Weir Bank in Bray from wellness providers — therapists, coaches, holistic practitioners and small businesses who are drawn to the setting as much as the space.

The riverside calm, the surrounding nature, the sense of quiet that is genuinely rare this close to a town centre — for practitioners and their clients, environment is not incidental to the work. It is part of it.

The serviced offices available at Weir Bank offer real flexibility making them well suited to wellness providers and other SMEs. And for businesses not yet ready for a physical space, our virtual office offering provides a formal registered business address at Weir Bank — all the credibility of a professional address without the overhead.

Until 31 August, new serviced office lease agreements come with up to 33% off the first three months rent. 🌿 Get in touch with the WBG team to find out more.

Long-term tenancies do not happen by accident. At Sandwell House in Worcester, around two thirds of our residential tenants have been with us for five years or more — and around a third for over a decade. That kind of retention reflects something we care about deeply: looking after our tenants well, investing in our properties consistently, and building relationships built on trust and reliability. 🏠 It is the foundation of everything we do at Weir Bank Group — and a measure we are proud of.

A few days late — but we could not scroll past these without sharing them.

Our Maidenhead property manager captured last week's solar eclipse from Berkshire, and the results speak for themselves. There is something quietly extraordinary about watching something like this happen directly above the places you know well.

Worth a moment of your Monday. 🌑
