After last week’s remembrance ceremony at Swinton cenotaph, I was contacted by the gentleman who had organised the fundraising and commissioning of the commemorative benches and was extremely honoured to be asked if we would like to have all eight of them for the garden at Crandon Court. Today, we held our remembrance ceremony on court and also celebrated the fact that Crandon court is now the very proud custodian of Salford’s Victoria Cross benches. We read out the names of all of the Salford VC recipients,
read a poem, played the last post and after the 2 minutes silence, our oldest veteran, Bert, placed a wreath on George Crandon’s bench. Another beautiful display of poppies created by our wonderful Angela.

Last week we were invited to a remembrance ceremony at Swinton cenotaph, to commemorate the eight brave men with connections to Salford, who were awarded the Victoria Cross. One of these men was George Crandon who our lovely court is named after. A bench was comssioned for each of the men and a brass name plaque placed on each bench. It was a very moving ceremony and we felt proud to be able to represent George Crandon ❤️

What an amazing day we had to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee. A massive thank you to Rayburn Trading for donating the funds to buy the food and prizes for the raffle and play your cards right. Our lovely Angela for all of her hard work as usual, Gwen for the cup cakes, Mandy for the jubilee cake and all the residents for joining in and having so much fun.

Thanks to Angela and Lauren’s hard work, we are ready for our Platinum Jubilee party on Wednesday. We are having a buffet, bingo, play your cards right and a free raffle. Plus a visit from Crandon Court’s very own queen Olive. It’s going to be a great afternoon.

Our lovely resident Olive celebrated her 90th birthday today with a party fit for a princess, complete with a fairytale castle birthday cake made by the daughter of one of our residents. A special thanks to our fantastic court cleaner Angela and her very talented daughter Lauren for creating the balloon display. We love a good party at Crandon court! ❤️🎉😘

We had a great day at our Christmas party. There was a lovely buffet, bingo, play your cards right and a raffle with 92 prizes….all of which were donations. We even had two of the lovely staff from Tesco Express to help us and the store also donated a large hamper for the raffle.
