Delighted to share that we have received full planning approval for our project at the former Rififi nightclub along Market St, Stalybridge 🎉

The scheme is set to revive this former landmark building, transforming it into a vibrant new market food hall and social destination within Stalybridge town centre.

The proposals will bring together independent local food operators, a dedicated live music setting and even a hidden speakeasy bar 🎶

The design takes its cues from the building’s original life as the Palace Cinema, threading retro cinema vibes and Art Deco-inspired design throughout the new scheme.

A project centred around bringing new life, activity and character back into a Loved Stalybridge building, while creating a destination for the local community.

We’re really looking forward to seeing this one progress to the next stage.

Delighted to have submitted our plans for a larger house extension in Mellor, South Manchester.

The proposal seeks to add a two-storey 8m x 17m extension alongside the existing property, which naturally brings a number of design challenges and planning constraints, given the site sits alongside the Green Belt, with stunning south-westerly views across the High Peak countryside.

Our core design strategy was to create a solution that minimised the overbearing impact and retain continuity between the significant new form.

Through considered elevation and massing treatments, we introduced vertical glazing to soften the gable bulk, horizontal soldier courses to reference existing heights, matching roof pitches to establish rhythm across the elevation, and projecting brickwork to reduce the perceived scale of the massing.

Together, these design elements help bring the new form back to a more human scale, while retaining symmetry and a material palette that responds directly to the existing house.

Overall, the proposal is designed to complement the existing property, using subtle architectural cues throughout to create rhythm, balance and visual continuity between existing and proposed.

The large opening for the feature glazing is formed and the new roof is up.

Glazing, windows and doors scheduled to be installed next week and hopefully scaffolding will be taken down to reveal the full elevation 👀

We’ve been working up a new concept for the Phase 1 refurbishment of the historic Clarence Arcade in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Drenched in history, the former owner left the building derelict and sought to repurpose it for HMO accommodation. Luckily, our client has better sense — with ambitions to bring this incredible building back to life

Our scheme looks to revitalise the arcade around its original purpose — a marketplace for locals, by locals.

Across three floors, the proposals include around 60 affordable stalls for small, independent and local businesses — from vintage bookshops and traditional sweet shops to florists, makers and more.

Our design takes cues from the arcade’s heritage, we’re introducing traditional period shopfronts, signage and detailing, creating a marketplace that feels like it has always belonged within the building.
