The sketch becomes the story. We’re proud to reveal that the building we’ve been shaping, planning and preparing to share is the CIS Tower, one of Manchester’s true architectural icons.
Completed in 1962, the tower was built as the headquarters of the Co-operative Insurance Society and quickly became a symbol of Manchester’s post-war ambition. At 118 metres, it was the tallest office building in the UK at the time and, for decades, one of the defining silhouettes of the city’s skyline.
Its story has always been one of progress. Designed with international influence and modernist confidence, the CIS Tower was ahead of its time then and later again, when its service tower was transformed with thousands of solar panels, creating one of the largest vertical solar arrays in Europe.
Now, a new chapter begins.
For MCR Property Group, this is more than a landmark asset. It is a building with history, presence and civic significance, the kind of opportunity that demands long-term belief, strategic thinking and the confidence to see what comes next.
Behind this moment sits the strength of our asset team: focused, commercially sharp and relentless in unlocking value. They have helped turn ambition into momentum, and momentum into a landmark announcement.
At MCR Property Group, every building has a story. CIS Tower is one of Manchester’s biggest and we’re ready to help write what comes next.
