Watch how removing one dead tree completely changed the feel of our garden and is our next step in shifting the energy in our garden, home and office.

Part 5 of my month long declutter project to transforming our office into a home office I actually want to work in.

Following on from my recent conversation with Corrina she helped me to see the impact of having a dead tree outside our home office ... Decluttering isn't just about what’s inside your space but outside too.

Our dead pear tree had reached the end of its life, and it was having a huge impact on how our garden felt. Even the birds had stopped visiting the bird feeder hanging on the dead tree!

Rather than tackling the whole job at once, we broke it down into small, manageable steps as I would use with my professional decluttering and organising clients.

A bit at a time...

One decision at a time...

Each phase seeing and feeling the progress every step of the way

Whether you're clearing a garden, decluttering a room, or organising your home, progress comes from starting small, breaking the process into small manageable tasks and not having to complete it all in one day.

Decluttering to 'fit in' to every day busy family life. The result? A calmer, clearer space that feels better from the house looking out as well as when we're in the garden too!

What could go in the garden recycling when in the recycling, what needed storing temporarily for the days leading up to the tip trip, as well as the tip trip itself. It's exactly the same when decluttering your home.

During in-person sessions, I help clients move items out of the space as we go and take a car load of donations and/or recycling away with me.

For virtual clients, we create a realistic disposal plan so donations, recycling and unwanted items don't become a new pile of clutter waiting to be dealt with.

Decluttering doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to keep moving forward.

Moving the bird feeder the birds from a dead tree to one with life changed everything!

Part 4 of my month long declutter project to transforming our office into a home office I actually want to work in

This step of the project started with moving an old bird feeder to the other side of the garden so we could see it from the kitchen and workspace. But once I started, I realised the bird food was mouldy, the feeder was rusty, and the whole setup needed refreshing.

Fast forward a few weeks and now we have sparrows, parakeets, pigeons, and squirrels visiting us every single day!

As a professional declutterer and organiser, I always say that organising your home is about more than just “stuff.” It’s about creating spaces that support calm, connection, wellbeing, and daily life.

Now I can watch the birds while making coffee, working, or cooking dinner and the children love seeing them at breakfast too. It’s brought so much joy and calm into our home as well as our garden.

Thank you to Corrina for starting me off on this journey.

Part 3 of my Month Long Project to Creating a Home Office I Want to Work In.

Today’s decluttering task? Letting go of my old uni notes and speech therapy textbooks!

I qualified over 20 years ago, and these notes are now 25+ years old. Research changes, practice evolves, and realistically these resources are no longer relevant to the work I do today.

Keeping them was taking up physical space and mental space too.

Holding on to a past version of myself ... likely impacting on the present and future version of myself.

So today, they’re officially leaving the office!!

Instantly… more room, a bit of a surface free on top of the cupboard, and already feeling a calmer workspace already!

Creating an organised home office isn’t about perfection it’s about making space for the life and work you have now, not the version from decades ago.

I’ve had access to a beautiful garden office for years… and I almost never chose to work in it!! A discussion with Corrina changed everything!

When I spoke to Corrina, we started talking about how the energy in a space can really impact how a space feels.

Suddenly I saw the space and what I storing in there in a completely different way!

The very first thing I noticed after our conversation was that when I opened the bedroom curtains, was our dead pear tree right outside the office door! It had quietly become something I looked at every single day and thought: “Oh… that’s such a shame the tree died.”

Maybe that matters more than we realise.

The tree no longer blossoms, the birds don’t use it anymore, and instead of feeling inspired when I looked outside, I felt sadness and heaviness.

Sometimes the things we stop noticing are the very things affecting how we feel in a space. So this is Part 1 of my most recent declutter project to shifting the energy in our office... gently, realistically and one small step at a time.

This was a month long project and I documented the process to share with you how I tackled the huge task in stages so that it could fit in to my busy life, making immediate impact from the start.

Have you ever had a space in your home that just didn’t feel right anymore?

Part 2 of my month long Declutter Project: to Shift the Energy in Our Home Office to Create an Inspiring Work Space I Want to Work In... gently, realistically and one small step at a time.

What we were storing in our office (as well as the dead pear tree outside the office) was stopping us from feeling like we wanted to use it…

When I really looked around our garden office properly, I realised it had slowly become a holding space for:
• broken equipment
• old paperwork
• university notes
• random “might need one day” items
• furniture without a home

And yet we kept saying:
“Why don’t we use this lovely space more?”

The truth is, our environment affects us emotionally far more than we think.

Instead of feeling calm, creative and focused, the space felt heavy, unfinished and stuck.

So rather than overwhelming myself trying to transform everything in one weekend, I’m going to tackle it the same way I encourage my clients to:

Slowly.

Realistically.

Alongside everyday life.

This is your reminder that you do not need to do everything at once to create change to a space in your home.

Sometimes shifting the energy starts with simply noticing that you want change how a space looks and feels. Thank you to Corrina for helping me to see our home office through a different lens.

A little bank holiday weekend reminder
You do not need to spend whole days decluttering to make progress at home.

One drawer.
One shelf.
One small reset is enough.

Family time is precious.

The memories, the slower moments, the time together, those things matter more than perfectly organised cupboards.

Amongst the busy half term plans, this is also your reminder to factor in some rest too… something I need reminding of myself!

A calmer home should support your life, not take you away from it.

Sometimes the hardest part of decluttering isn’t the sorting.

It’s knowing where to start.

When every room feels like it needs attention, it’s easy to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you need an entire weekend to make a difference.

But meaningful change doesn’t have to happen all at once.

That’s exactly why I offer my “2 Hours Better” decluttering sessions.

These focused sessions are designed to help you make steady, realistic progress in your home, with support, encouragement, no judgement and no pressure, working at your pace.

Two hours could:
- Tackle a space that’s been causing stress
- Reduce visual clutter and create more calm
- Put simple systems in place that work for real life
- Help your home feel easier to manage day to day
- Give you momentum and a sense of relief

We work together at your pace, step by step.

No judgement.

No unrealistic expectations.

Just practical, compassionate support to help your home feel lighter and more manageable.

Because when your environment feels calmer, everyday life often feels calmer too.

And sometimes, two focused hours can create more change than you imagined.

Two hours.

Gentle support.

A home that already feels better.

If clutter has been weighing on you, this could be your first step toward creating a calmer space and a clearer mind.

World Organising Day

Part 2- Why I became a Professional Organiser
Decluttering changed my life in ways I never expected.

What started as letting go of “stuff” became a journey towards more confidence, more freedom, and more self-belief.

For years, I doubted my decisions and held onto things “just in case.” But through the decluttering process, I realised something powerful... I can trust myself. And if I ever make the wrong decision? I can manage it.

That mindset shift has been life-changing.

Not only has our home become calmer and lighter, but our whole life has changed too. We spend less time overwhelmed at home and more time making memories, getting out, and truly living.

Professional decluttering and organising is about so much more than tidy drawers or organised cupboards. It’s about creating space mentally, emotionally, and physically for the life you want to live.

Watching my clients experience that same transformation is the reason I love what I do.

Today is World Organising Day!

Reel Part 1 A bit about me and why I became a Professional Declutterer and Organiser

Today we’re celebrating the life-changing power of decluttering and organising, not just here in the UK, but around the world 🌍

Six years ago, I started my own decluttering journey while juggling young children, a demanding career as a Speech and Language Therapist, and the constant feeling of just surviving week to week.

My home felt overwhelming, and I didn’t realise how much clutter was affecting my family life, stress levels, and ability to truly relax.

Then came the pause of COVID. For the first time, life slowed down enough for me to see things differently. I heard the words: “You don’t have to keep everything.” And that changed everything.

Little by little, I began decluttering in a realistic, family-friendly way, no huge clear-outs, no perfection, just small manageable steps that fitted around everyday life. The impact was incredible. I felt lighter, calmer, more in control, and our home began to support us instead of overwhelm us.

That journey eventually led me to create Live Light Decluttering so I could help other busy families experience the same transformation.

Decluttering isn’t about having a perfect home. It’s about creating space for the life you want to live.

Still waiting for a completely free weekend to finally tackle the clutter?

For most people, that “perfect time” never really appears.

Getting your home feeling calmer and more organised doesn’t have to mean an exhausting full-house clear-out.

Even 15 focused minutes can make a real difference.

It might look like:
• clearing one chaotic cupboard
• sorting the drawer everyone avoids
• tackling the surface that’s constantly covered
• reclaiming the corner that’s become a dumping ground
• organising one small space that’s been bothering you for ages

Small steps count.

In fact, consistent small wins are often far more sustainable than trying to do everything in one overwhelming weekend.

And personally, I think weekends should mostly be for relaxing, spending time with family, and doing things you enjoy, not burning yourself out decluttering the entire house.

That’s exactly why I offer 2 Hour Better Declutter Sessions. These sessions offer practical, supportive professional decluttering and organising help designed to work around real life.

Available weekdays and limited weekends also available if needed.

Your whole home won't be completely decluttered in 2 hours ... it will feel better than it did before.

You'll feel lighter.

You’ll see visible progress.

Your home will feel calmer, more functional, and easier to manage.

Decluttering isn’t about perfection.

It’s about creating enough change to help everyday life feel easier.

If you’d like support creating a calmer, more organised home without sacrificing your whole weekend, I’d love to help.
