❌ SFI26 Window 2 has closed just hours after opening, with its entire £233 million budget allocated, Defra has confirmed.

Shadow farming minister Robbie Moore called the situation “just ridiculous”, while the CLA said thousands of farmers had faced a scramble to apply and called for clear guidance for those who missed out.

** ONE WEEK TO GO **

Window 2 of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI26) is expected to open Next Tuesday 22 September 2026.

Key points for Window 2:
• Window 2 will be open to all eligible farmers and land managers.
• Applicants must be registered with the RPA and have a Single Business Identifier (SBI), with at least 3 hectares of eligible agricultural land linked to it.
• A further £50 million has been added to SFI26, taking the total 2026/27 budget to £290 million.
• Farmers with existing SFI23, Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier, Higher Tier or HLS agreements expiring by the end of February 2027 can also use the new early-application functionality in Window 2.
