Croft Cottage has been very busy with visitors since the relaxation of Covid restrictions in mid-April. In fact, the cottage is now fully booked until early December.

With the help of my local cleaning lady, we do our best to clean the cottage thoroughly within the limitation of the change-over time.
The good weather has helped visitors to explore the village and wider area, leaving some lovely comments in the Visitor book: (2021) “Gorgeous cottage, gorgeous views, & loved the wood-burner!”; “Cosy cottage, wonderful countryside. Thank you for help with ancestry research – it was the icing on the cake”; “Lovely cosy cottage, beautiful location, ideal to explore the area. We had a great time”; “Croft Cottage and Parwich is a little bit of heaven found in the Derbyshire Dales. Loved every minute of every day - didn’t want to go home”.
During the past week, a small team of tree-surgeons has been busy taking down some of the Ash trees at the top of the field behind the cottage. It’s always sad when trees are taken down, but the consequences of Chalara fraxinea, the Ash die-back disease, were starting to affect the Ash trees. Some self-seeded saplings of different tree species are already established and with some additional tree planting in the gaps, I’m hopeful that the green ‘corridor’ will soon become quite dense again.
