We recently hired a couple of double kayaks on Cromford canal from Peaks and Paddles.
We met Chris at Cromford Wharf for the briefing then thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing paddle on the canal for an hour, taking in the lovely scenery, chasing dragonflies and spotting the dinosaurs along the route!

Located just a couple of miles away at Cromford Wharf next door to Cromford Mills.

This was supposed to be showing off our new picnic bench, positioned to enjoy the view closer to the woodland.

However, Sox has recently decided that she likes to come on a wander in the field with us so she definitely stole the show!

Following some useful feedback from guests we have upgraded our air fryers!

The original ones were very small (just 2L) and as the lodges don't have ovens, it seems only right that guests are able to cook more using the air fryer.

So, now each lodge has a fancy new dual cook totalling 10L capacity, as well as a two burner induction hob, microwave and toaster...

I can't believe we've been open for a year already!
And we've been so busy over the last few weeks that we missed our opening anniversary, so it's been one year and a bit 🤦‍♀️
Thought we'd celebrate with a delicious slice of cake from Willow Blossom who are also celebrating their first year here in beautiful Wirksworth 😊

What was once an over-grazed "green desert" is starting to show signs of improvement...
After the building work was complete, we seeded the bare soil with mixed grasses and clover, to help give the biodiversity of the site a boost.

We let most of the grass grow long but the clover likes the mown paths where the grass is shortest.

I'm so pleased that foxgloves are starting to take off along the field edges - the bees love the foxglove and clover flowers!
