Yesterday, government announced that big changes are coming to the home buying and selling process โ and we're pleased to see the industry moving in the right direction.
The Government has announced plans to modernise the home moving process, with proposals designed to reduce delays, prevent fall-throughs and make transactions faster, fairer and more transparent.
The reforms include:
โ
Upfront property information and sales packs
โ
Earlier binding agreements
โ
Greater use of digital technology
โ
A Code of Practice and professional qualifications for estate agents
At Whitfields, we're delighted to see many of these ideas becoming the future of our industry because they're already part of how we work. Our mission when Jaine started on her dining room table 6 years ago was to make a difference and we have already seen some agents improve and, dare we say, copy our processes and marketing. It is fantastic to see that finally the government may actually be making changes that were proposed many years ago (no political favouritism here! )
We already offer optional reservation agreements to give buyers and sellers greater confidence and commitment once a sale is agreed. We use secure online document signing and ID checks for ease and security, while always providing traditional paper copies for clients who prefer them.
We also believe professionalism matters. Most of our team have already achieved recognised industry qualifications, and Jaine is proud to be a Member of Propertymark, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.
Of course, technology is only part of the picture. Great communication, honest advice and proactive sales progression are still the biggest factors in achieving a successful move. We work closely with buyers, sellers, conveyancers and mortgage advisers to keep everyone informed and help transactions reach completion as smoothly as possible.
Anything that reduces uncertainty, increases transparency and helps more people move with confidence is a positive step for our industry, and we welcome these proposed reforms.
If you're thinking of moving, we'd love to show you how a modern, proactive estate agency can make all the difference.
