What happens when people can’t afford to live in the villages they call home?
Families are increasingly being priced out of rural communities and our CEO Steve Warran believes changes to the Government’s planning rules could help.
The revised National Planning Policy Framework puts more emphasis on affordable and social housing and recognises that rural communities need new homes if they are to survive and thrive.
For us, that could mean more opportunities to build the small, carefully designed developments that can make a real difference, including new homes in Poulshot near Devizes and Sutton Benger.
But Steve says it’s not about building anywhere and everywhere. It’s about providing good-quality, affordable homes for people with a genuine connection to the communities where they live. Could planning reform give rural housing the boost it needs?

WEB SAFE WEDNESDAY: NATIONWIDE SCAM TEXT
Advice from our Stay Safe Online team to keep you one step ahead of fraudsters.
Share it with anyone you know who might benefit.
This week we're warning about a bogus text sent from someone pretending tp be from Nationwide Building Society, saying that a standing order has been set up on the recipient's account.
It goes on to provide a number to call if this wasn't set up, which will put the caller through to a fraudster intent on getting their personal information.
You can report scam text messages by forwarding them to 7726.

Our staff enjoy getting out to our many and varied housing schemes to visit residents and pick up on any issues. They didn't get much out of this character in Corsely though. He looked like he was having a bad day but it was the last straw for Housing Assistants Ellie Grace and Tracy Crook when he refused to crow about anything.

Meet our new Customer Service Assistant Karin Stevens, who will already be familiar to many of our tenants as she is often the first voice they hear when they ring in.
Karin comes to us from a role in HR and, previously, as a coffee shop manager, where she admits she became a bit of a coffee snob – so our staff kitchen will have to up its game.
She says she is enjoying her new job. "It’s a really nice team and really good to have that sort of camaraderie," she says.
Karin, spends much of her spare time studying for a degree with the Open University, but she also has an unsual hobby that leaves her dangling from a ceiling.

There is some good news for our residents, every child in England living in a household receiving Universal Credit will now qualify for free school meals. The change removes the current income threshold, helping more families with the cost of sending children to school.

Mum Kelly Storton spoke of her delight and excitement at moving into our brand new three-bedroomed rental home at Gaiger Homes' stunning sustainable development in Poulshot.
"It is amazing and it doesn’t real after watching it go up," said the mum-of-three as she got ready to move from a cramped two-bed in the village where she doesn't even have her own bedroom.
