We've had a last minute cancellation for the week beginning 15th May - escape to the peace and quiet of the Borders' wonderful countryside, explore our beautiful local market towns with their many boutiques, cafes and restaurants, wander along the River Tweed, climb the Eildon Hills, jump on the Borders railway for a day trip to Edinburgh or explore the deserted East Coast beaches. There is plenty of culture too, some of Scotland's most beautiful historic homes and castles, home to the Great Tapestry of Scotland, follow in the footsteps of Walter Scott or a Roman Centurion, and get up close to the heritage trail of our wool industry and the mill towns that grew up around it. Don't tell everyone, but I think May is the best month in Scotland by far! Today’s iPhone memory! The views from Hollybush Cottage just blow me away, whatever the weather. Come and enjoy long autumnal walks along the river, explore the Scottish Borders’ ancient abbeys, lose yourself in the Great Tapestry of Scotland or just potter around the shops and cafes in Melrose. Then come home to underfloor heating, a soak in a roll top bath or walk-in shower and finally cosy up n front of a roaring wood burning stove - the perfect recipe for an autumn evening.

Even on the cloudiest of days, Hollybush Cottage is flooded with light. We have artists that return year after year because of this. I know I just love the light when I am on holiday and when we re-designed the cottage in 2021, we did everything to maximise the light and bring those amazing views inside, come sun, rain or snow!

Celestial laser show over Hollybush - what a treat! Temperatures reached 26 degrees here yesterday. I wasn’t sure you could beat a day in the garden surrounded by the blossom, bluebells and birdsong, but the Northern Lights were the cherry on the cake…

And they’re off! (Phew…). Harvest is a magical time of year for us…. Oats first, then on to the wheat 🤞🏻. Prayers for sunshine and no mechanical failures 🙏.
