These little moments never get old. ❤️

Today, somebody asked for recommendations for a house mover on a local Facebook group.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

Following unprecedented temperatures, relentless pressure and one too many flights of stairs, Callum has announced his resignation from Callum’s Removals.

In a brief statement, he said:

“It’s 30°C, I’m sweating through my polo shirt, and somebody’s just told me they’ve got ‘just a few boxes’ in the loft. I simply can’t go on…”

Unfortunately, unlike politicians, resigning isn’t really an option in the removals industry.

So after a cold bottle of water, a quick moan about the weather and a few choice words aimed at the sun, we’ll be doing what removals people have always done…

We’ll push through.

Because families still need moving, keys still get released late, and somebody still needs that sofa squeezing through an impossible doorway.

Stay hydrated everyone. ☀️🥵📦

(For the avoidance of doubt… I’m still here. The only thing giving up today is the air conditioning in the van.)

A Little Sprinkle of Hope

Yesterday’s move reminded us why improvements to the home-moving process would be so welcome.

Right up until the night before, our customer’s solicitor wasn’t entirely convinced the move would complete. There were two young children involved, aged five and seven, and as the hours ticked by everyone was left waiting and wondering.

Finally, at 5pm, the call came.

The keys had been released.

Thankfully, our team was able to get everything unloaded and the family settled into their new home that evening.

And that’s exactly what we do.

We crack on.

No drama.

No complaints.

Just another moving day.

But the truth is, it doesn’t need to be this way.

Late keys are something we encounter regularly. We accept that chains and legal processes can be complicated, but many of these delays leave families, buyers, sellers and removal crews waiting unnecessarily.

That’s why the Government’s latest proposals to modernise the home-buying process caught our attention.

Over the years, we’ve heard similar promises before, so time will tell what difference these latest plans ultimately make. But if improvements to digital processes, upfront information and conveyancing can reduce even a handful of these late completions, it would be welcomed by everyone involved.

Nobody enjoys sitting on packed boxes all day.

Nobody enjoys wondering whether they’re actually moving.

And nobody really wants to get the keys at 5pm.

But yesterday, despite all the uncertainty, a stressful day ended with a family in their new home.

Sometimes, a little sprinkle of hope is enough. ❤️🏡

We’ve learned over the years that after a long moving day, nobody wants to be standing in the spare room at 10:30pm, holding an Allen key and arguing over which way up the cot goes. 😅

Apparently, three.

Sometimes the biggest challenges come from the smallest pieces. A narrow staircase meant this wardrobe side needed a bit of teamwork and some outside-the-box thinking.
