Big expose on watchdog tonight shone the light on this purple bricks outfit... and their flagrant attempts to mislead the public. Is this why some of the bigwigs were selling shares a few weeks ago knowing that this was coming. Several rebukes by the advertising standards watchdogs for misleading statements. Various clients saying how they had been duped. These people have raised and spent millions on these misleading ads with the declared intention to disrupt the estate agency market in the U.K. Saying they would be the biggest agent in the U.K. Shortly well if it was my money invested I'd be worried now. But make no bones about it these people know what they were doing they know the law better than anyone and cheated whilst pretending to clean up the industry . To be fair their website is good and is written in nice soft non legalise terms... but this hides the truth ...... my own favourite anomoly being why when they profess to on average sell houses in days why tie people in to a one year contract and charge a fee even if not sold .... but this is hidden in t& Cs tucked away while the claim rides high on the introductory pages. Cynical manipulation of the truth showing the morals of these market disrupters not content with sound growth if theirproduct was what it claimed they Have been caught out..
CEO Michael Bruce when thanked for attending to answer questions muttered" a pleasure" when clearly it wasn't .
One up for the high street then!
Local agents have to face their clients in the street and earn their trust. Technology has its place and can massively improve the experience but we really do need to be careful what we wish for. Some big money is going in to create some big players the prize being significant control of the property market this is not a good thing at all. Many agents have capitulated and allowed big players to dominate but I think we might be seeing soon these big boys brought down by their own greed ... an intriguing future.....
