Week 1 of the World Cup Exhibition over so time to change the mannequins but before I do I thought I'd give those of you who didn't make it to the shop a chance to see what was involved. This corner is the one which will change regularly, I'll take you through the jerseys and their significance from left to right;
1] Scotland away Rugby Jersey - I bought this in 1985 I think during the Casual era as it entered the 'Dress Down' phase. I saw English lads moving on from Benetton Rugby tops to England ones and reckoned it was a smart look combined with Brown cords and New Balance trainers, so I got this and the home Scotland one as well. I also grew my hair and got a curly top perm but that's another story🤣
2] Scotland 1974 replica by Score Draw - I found this in Burtons but someone had made the decision to have Argentina 1978 embroidered around the badge. Weird decision but the teabag material encouraged me to buy it anyhow.
3] Faddy's France top - We all know the goal but this one is a collaboration between the clothes retailer Hanon up in Aberdeen, now sadly gone, and Diadora and features a special badge and print on the front.
4] Lovers FC World Cup special - My mate Neal Heard produces these jerseys under his Lovers FC brand which is borne from his book A Lovers Guide to Football Shirts This one is produced in conjunction with Rizla and he brought out a range of countries for this tournament.
5] Euros 2004 top by Daft Laddie - I produced this 1967 replica for the 2024 Euros and it went down a storm. I've always liked the simplicity of early football shirts and they don't come much simpler than this.
That's it though, you've missed them now. All change today but you can view them on request any time.
