A beautiful if chilly Day

We’re thrilled to share that all three barn owl boxes across the estate successfully raised owlets this season. Working alongside the Barn Owl Trust, the team have been monitoring and cleaning the boxes, as well as ringing the young birds to help understand the population.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve also upgraded several of our nesting infrastructure that had weathered many years of service. These have now been replaced with durable new boxes in the quiet areas with good hunting grounds that barn owls’ favour, while still allowing for ongoing monitoring. A couple of the old boxes will remain in place for a year to give the owls time to move across and settle into their new homes.

By renewing and maintaining these nesting sites, we’re helping to support a thriving barn owl population at Lyme. Here’s to many more owlets in the years ahead!
